We dined at Peregrine for dinner on a Tuesday date night. It took a solid 10 mins after being seated before we flagged down the staff to ask if we had a server. However, once we were noticed Cody did a wonderful job serving us and the food and ambiance were well worth the wait and enjoyable. We had the waygu tartare and bread to start. Can’t go wrong with soft but warm flatbread and a salted butter in my opinion. The waygu was spicy in the most flavorful way and the lettuce cups offered a refreshing crunch.
The Bengali chicken was everything we expected, juicy, succulent and the sauce…. Wow! We used it to coat the chicken, grits from the lamb and the coconut rice. Also enjoyed the GSM red wine option by the bottle and glass. Derek was a gracious manager and came to check on us several times. Overall we had a great experience. Would recommend for a high end date night or celebration.

I made a reservation for my husband and I well in advance, so we wouldn’t have to worry. We did have to wait a few minutes for them to clean a table before we were seated once we arrived. They took our coats, which was nice. Like others have mentioned, it did take a while for someone to come over and bring water and take drink orders. Once we had a server, he was very good and attentive.

To drink I got the amaretto sour, which was very good. For the food, our server said they wanted the whole order at once, which was kind of weird. Normally I like to order appetizers and then my main course.

We started with the bread and butter, which was so good. I loved the salt with the sweet butter. Then we shared the bengalj wedding chicken, roasted lamb, and coconut rice. I didn’t love the chicken foot being on the plate, but it was very good chicken. I really liked the lamb, which had a unique flavor. I wasn’t expecting to like the coconut rice so much, but it was great! It had a sweetness that wasn’t too sweet. To finish it off we got the chocolate dessert. While I liked it, I don’t think it justified paying $19.

Overall, I enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and service once we had a server. However, I don’t know if I would come back. I would prefer to go to tamasha or get a really good steak somewhere.

I can now see why Raleigh’s own Peregrine has been nominated for a national James Beard Award in the “Best New Restaurant” category. My wife, Janice, and I found out last night that Peregrine is a Contemporary American Cuisine wonder! It was opened by Partner/Executive Chef and longtime friend Saif Rahman, nearly a year ago. The menu is out of this world tasty!

We started with the “Arrivals” (appetizer) Grilled Beef Hearts, aji Verde (so good!). Then for “Journeys” (main course), Janice had Roasted Trout with harissa and aromatic herbs and I had the Roasted Lamb al Pastor Style (every bite was a savory treasure!). We added a “Wanderings” (side) of Coconut Rice served with cashews and raisins. Of course we shared (ok, fought over…) everything and then finished the night with Pastry Chef Khoi Ha’s Mango Flan with cardamom flavoring (what a tasty finish!).

Congrats Chef Saif, you and Partner Patrick Shanahan have created a Raleigh Masterpiece!

The food was underwhelming especially for the price! The presentation was pretty and the service was pretty good. We had a reservation and waited about 10 minutes, not too bad. But then waited about another 15 minutes before the waitress came to the table. Unfortunately, they brought my friend the wrong food and we had to wait an awful long time for them to correct it. Apparently a “kitchen error”. The waitress was very nice and helped make the wait not seem so long. We tried a lot, overall the roasted lamb was good and just about the only thing with some type of flavor! Song birds wing for dessert was good as well.

Tried this spot for the first time after being recommended via Offline! The interior is stunning- immaculately decorated and has a great vibe. Perfect place for a date night or dinner with friends.

Drinks were delicious and the food was pretty good! The bread and butter was great but I would skip the tiger salad (our fault for not asking about the dish, but it was a bit strange and far too spicy). The Bengali wedding chicken is a must-try and you can’t go wrong with the carne asada. Surprisingly, our favorite thing we tried was the pulao! Really unique & delicious rice despite being an accompaniment.

While we enjoyed most everything we tried, we felt like we got everything on the menu that appealed to us. It’s a bit of a small menu, so we would probably wait for some dishes to change before coming back. Price wise, I feel like everything was a bit too expensive for the quality, but they are providing a great space & ambiance. Overall, nice spot!

I’ve been to Peregrine twice now and tonight the food was exceptional. The seasoning was on point and you can taste the intention behind the layering of flavors. I really enjoyed my dining experience tonight and will def be back. On top of the food being delicious the atmosphere is absolutely stunning. I do recommend this place to anyone in the North hills area.

I just had to share my excitement about the incredible dinner I recently enjoyed! The food was nothing short of immaculate, leaving me absolutely amazed (every bite we took it was a wow). These fall dishes really had me dreaming – it was a culinary delight like no other. To top it off, the decor and atmosphere were simply amazing, creating a perfect dining experience. Every single dollar spent was worth it, and I can’t wait to go back for more. Highly recommend giving it a try!

We came here for a birthday dinner, and it turned out to be one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in the Triangle! Everything was unique and flavorful- the broccolini and coconut rice sides were some of the favorites- and the service was fantastic! The drinks were great, and the dessert (we had the deconstructed apple pie situation) was so fun. Worth the splurge!

Ciera with Offline – I love when a restaurant completely blows my expectations and Peregrine did just that. Every staff member was exceptionally hospitable, but in a way that felt genuine and positive, not forced or scripted. You could tell the team truly enjoys what they do and that it’s a healthy, supportive environment.
I was incredibly impressed by the recommended dishes the Bengali Wedding Chicken and the Rainbow Trout. For a restaurant described as “American-style,” the creative combinations of flavors, herbs, and spices reveal a deep cultural understanding and a thoughtfully curated culinary experience by the chef.
The Bengali Wedding Chicken was outstanding. I appreciated that they kept the feet attached, honoring the full process and tradition behind the dish. Having grown up in the country, I saw that as a mark of authenticity and respect. The chicken itself was perfectly juicy, the sauce rich and flavorful, and the presentation stunning.
The Rainbow Trout was equally remarkable—especially with the micro heirloom tomatoes on top. Every bite revealed new layers of flavor and texture. My only small piece of constructive feedback would be that a small piece of bone seemed to remain near the floral garnish, possibly from the tailbone. It didn’t take away from the experience, but worth noting for future attention to detail.
For side dishes, I highly recommend the Pilaou, a fragrant rice dish with dried fruit, mint, and herbs that give it a transformative, almost transportive flavor. It’s far beyond what you’d expect from a typical restaurant side.
I also tried the Tallow Carrots with Yogurt Dip and Pumpkin Seeds, and it was something I’d never think to combine myself, but it worked beautifully. The yogurt dip was so good that I even tried it with the wedding chicken—it was an amazing match!
The bar and cocktail area were equally impressive. The drinks were well-balanced, and I love that you can customize your own Old Fashioned. I didn’t try that option this time, but I absolutely plan to on my next visit.
Overall, Peregrine earns a 12 out of 10 from me. The food, atmosphere, and service are all top-tier. This restaurant isn’t just part of the new growth in the exchange area…it’s defining it. Peregrine brings an elevated yet soulful culinary energy that will put this area on the map. I can’t wait to come back, try more dishes, and continue enjoying this farm-to-table experience that captures the warmth of the countryside right in the heart of the city.
Fabulous job, Peregrine! I can’t wait to see what you do next.

Me and my sister really enjoyed our dining experience at Peregrine last night. This was my second time dining there- I would highly recommend. We had the Mixed green salad, Suya Mushroom (amazing!!!), broccolini, acorn squash and the Tribute to Autumn dessert (sweet potato cake). Everything was flavorful and cooked just right.

It was a very busy night for them. Our server was kind and helpful with making suggestions about vegetarian options for us. I had a Chrome Viper mocktail, which was tasty. The vibe is very classy and sophisticated. The music nice as well. I’ll be back soon!
