I love that the hamburger meat was actually bigger than the delicious bun it came on. I got the jalapeño jack burger, some fries and a local amazing ipa. Fun atmosphere. Friendly staff. Inside and protected outside seating. This is the old Starbucks building, and I have to say, I highly approve of the change! (Oh ya, great beer selection)

This place is awesome. Great food, Great Service, Great Atmosphere! The burgers are delicious freshly made and the owner really cares. There is a wide selection of beer although I don’t drink it seems like the bar has great service. If your driving up 80 to Nevada it is just as good as Ikeda maybe better cause it isn’t so busy.

We loved sitting at the bar watching Monday Night Football. We had burgers, tots and onion rings, two beers. All awesome. Service is friendly and prompt. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a clean, easy, delicious place to eat in Auburn.

So I heard about this new place and we stopped in to have something to eat and I’m telling you that was probably one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had. My friend ordered a salad which looked amazing!!!! It has this tasty ranch- dill dressing that she let me try. The Atmosphere alone was so warming on such a rainy day. Fireplace was going and everything. They also have a patio where the windows unzipped for those nice sunny days so I can’t wait till then.
Plus bonus!! the place was very, very clean !!!

After we left, I asked my wife (who got a regular burger without knowing the price) what she thought of Grumpy’s. She said “The burger was good, but I wouldn’t have paid more than $8 for it.” (it was $10)
I think that’s a good way to sum it up. According to a friend, Grumpy’s used to be a staple in Auburn and sold thick delicious burgers. They are not trying to be that type of place and I knew that going in.
Overall, the only two things that truly wowed me about Grumpy’s were their buns and the ambiance. Their buns are soft, buttery, and a true step-up from most burger places. Most everything else was good, not excellent. I tried my wife’s regular burger and immediately thought “That tastes really familiar.” Then I realized that it tasted like a Big Mac. I had the Grumpy Cowboy, which I thought was better than the regular burger, but was it worth $12? I’d say no, especially since their burgers are relatively small. One of my kids got chicken strips and those were legitimately below average, like school cafeteria quality. We tried the tator tots and fries, both of which were good, not great, and also, not a lot of fries/tots for $4. Most of the food reminded me of a basic drive-in burger place.
Another issue was the lack of a kids menu. My 4yo daughter wanted a plain cheeseburger with fries. That was $15.
We were there on a Saturday night and at least 80% of the tables were empty. My guess is that Grumpy’s will struggle to stay open unless they reduce their burger prices by $2, include fries with them, or make their burgers significantly larger. I personally won’t by coming back, since there are better burger options in Auburn at this price point.

I do remember Grumpy’s from the late 90’s. It was my favorite burger spot back in the day. Today I did a take out double Grumpy burger. Honestly wished I had looked at my receipt after paying for a $15 double + tip, because the cashier didn’t even bother to register my request on the tag to the cook, therefore I ended up taking out and eating a double burger, I didnt like at all & certainly didnt request all that was added to it. Too late, I was already on the road.
This was my second visit to the New Grumpy’s location and more than likely the last.
-not much of a wait time
-cashier with the lip piercings could have paid more attention to the order and gave a thank you after payment+tip.
-cooks are good.
-atmosphere was cool.
-pricey burger for what it was. Had better down the street

Burgers are one of America’s favorite foods. To say we’re hamburger-obsessed as a nation would be an understatement. At Grumpy’s Burgers and Brew they are cooking using the smash method. Everything was well put together and appetizing, except for the most critical part: the beef. The Patties were at room temperature and tasteless. A little cheeseburger cost around $11. If you thought that included fries, you’d be mistaken. The cost for two cheeseburgers, a double cheeseburger, milkshake, tater tots, fries and two beers was $75. I would recommend Grumpy’s include fries with their hamburgers or lower their prices. Since other burger places do a smashburger just as well – if not better – and at a fraction of the price.

If you are looking for a cool local restaurant, that is quick and easy, AND has yummy food, this is the place for you!
My husband and I happen to go the first week they opened. It was slammed, but the staff was amazing and super friendly. One of the owners Jamie told my husband to get a milkshake, he would not regret it. He said, hands-down it was the best milkshake he had ever had. We felt the prices were fair and the service was outstanding. Great establishment, and you should give them a try!
Five star rating ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Burgers patties are massive so you get a great mouth full of burgers in every bite. Service is all friendly and helpful. Foods quick.
I’ll be back to bring the office after work for beers

Good smash style burger. Establishment is very clean and comfortable. Staff is very kind. They do sell Pepsi instead of coke but no one is perfect.
