The meal I was served at kai sushi was a well balanced and fresh dish best served on the most ideal weather that was due to be had. The service was at high level and I was more overjoyed knowing that my experience was upheld by the attention and care necessary. I had the poke bowl from the lunch special and I was 10 minutes too late to qualify but the wonderful waitress served me anyway. I brought some of my own beverages and it clicked with the overall presentation and flavor profile of the dish. I have been going to Kai since it has opened and it never misses. Total zen here.

I’ve been to Kai Sushi at least 6-8 times in the past two years. It’s a great neighborhood place. It’s easy and fairly quick. I’ve eaten lunch here with little kids, dinner outside in the summer (a little loud) and inside the restaurant (pretty charmless).
The food is the thing here. If you know that going in, you will not be disappointed. The outdoor area in the summer is simply some chairs and tables. Maybe they are wiped down, maybe they aren’t. Maybe you will take care of that yourself, maybe you’ll decide it doesn’t matter.
At the end of your delicious meal you won’t really be too worried about the lack of water or stretched thin wait staff or any of the rest of it. You’ll leave very happy for this meal. And if you walked here (since street parking can be a pain depending on the time) you’ll feel even better.

So, so good, wow. Great location for our neighborhood! It’s great not to have to walk far at all for amazing sushi. My fiancé and I have been here twice and now our goal is to try every one of the “Special Rolls.” We’ve tried 6 out of 21 so far and I would order any of them again. Beautiful presentation. All the ingredients are fresh and flavorful. The wasabi is incredible. Our first visit they gave us this cute little cut up orange for dessert. Very much looking forward to trying the green tea ice cream for dessert but so far we’ve been too full at the end to try it. We will definitely be coming back often!

BEST SUSHI IN CHICAGO!!!!!!!!! This review is so grandly overdue!! On 21 January of this year, I experienced Kai for the first time. Ever since, I have ordered takeout from Kai at least three times weekly!! The food is fresh, beautiful, and plentiful!! The customer service is spectacular. Ploy, the chefs, and all of the workers simply blow all other sushi restaurant teams out of the ballpark!! AND THEY ALWAYS WRITE CUTE LITTLE NOTES TO ME ON THE PACKAGING!! I cannot offer enough divine words for this business. Roses are red, violets and blue, I love Kai Sushi, and you shall, too!!

Absolutely delicious!! I got a spicy crab roll with mango and avocado and it was great – getting to customize your roll to exactly what you want is super nice too. The rice was perfectly cooked and the ingredients tasted fresh. Will be coming back soon!

Had some decent sushi here but last time I went near closing and the sushi had mushier turned avocado on top and tossed it. When I called the restaurant the woman had me send a picture which I did. She then told me it wasn’t their avocado? Better check the food before you leave. Won’t be returning.

Pretty good sushi. The Ocean roll was really good, but the Volcano and Crunchy Tuna rolls weren’t as great. I liked how they gave you an orange at the end of your meal!

Ordered takeout. Soup and some spicy tuna rolls. The soup was a beef soup and tasted only like broccoli, which wasn’t even mentioned as being in the soup the spicy tuna rolls had no flavor and were all heat. Broccoli soup and heat bombs with no flavor… Not good. Would not recommend it. Will not return.

Amazing sushi and service! Our waiter was extremely friendly and attentive. We ordered a few rolls to share and ended up ordering more because it was that good. Highly recommend the crunchy crab, green turtle, and lobster mania. Great prices, quality, and it’s BYOB!

Love the sushi from Kai! Both the South Loop and this location are great. My favorite roll is the Ocean roll 10/10. Quick service and the patio is nice in the warmer months.
