My group was really looking forward to this outing. We like to eat local, and we love a BYOB. We were greeted so nicely and attentively that it seemed like it was going to be a great night. Sadly, the food didn’t live up to our expectations. To be blunt, no self-respecting chef would have allowed many of our dishes to even leave the kitchen. I ordered the breaded shrimp. The breading was burned, and the shrimp was inedible. Two people ordered the whole fish, which, to be plain, was inedible, deep fried to the consistency of rubber. And one of those two ordered not fried fish, but in a lemon butter sauce! Two meals were just wrong – salmon where chicken was ordered. Dried out rice when rice and beans were ordered. The sides were especially sad – no seasoning. This held true for stewed bean, yuca, fried plantains and little plantain patties were all unseasoned. The “stewed beans” appeared to be kidney beans taken of a can with no other ingredients or spices. One other thing is the lack of real vegetarian options. To have a vegetarian meal, you have to just order side dishes. The vegetarian member of our group had to settle for a dish or rice and beans (bland) and fried plantains, which she said tasted like fish. I would assume the plantains were fired in the same oil as the fish, which is an awful way to treat your vegetarian guests. No one asked how our meal was, and we elected not to complain as we were having a great time anyway. We just decided not to return. The guacamole and the potato salad were the only stand-outs. And while the staff was friendly, no server should have delivered that food to a customer. Finally – there was only one other occupied table, so it wasn’t because of a busy night.

We went for dinner and had a wonderful time. The restaurant is clean, well lit, and tastefully decorated. Edwin (the owner) greeted us and took us to our table. He answered all of our questions and made some great recommendations for appetizers – we had the pupusas and they were delicious. For the main course, we had the chicken breast in garlic sauce and the chicken fajitas. The portions and the presentation were excellent, as was the service, and the food was hot and flavorful. Both the yellow rice and the salads were fresh and tasty, and the hand made tortillas were fantastic. We will definitely be back!

Casa Grande is a Central American style restaurant. This restaurant is new to Jamesburg, NJ and located on Gatzmer Ave. where the original thin crust pizza was. The owner Edwin and cooking staff takes pride in their food focusing on Central American authenticity. The family run staff is very professional and friendly with the intention of making all of their visitors feel like they are at home. The dining area is brightly lit and open with a seating capacity of 100 people. Come by with your family and friends, reserve for a party or dine with a date. You are guaranteed to enjoy a truly impressive dining experience. Oh yeah, it’s also BYOB.

4 of us had dinner tonight for the first time- the food was excellent we had ceviche for an appetizer that was the best I’ve ever had. for dinner everybody got something different between beef, pork, chicken, and shrimp. Everything was cooked perfectly, and they gave you a Normas amount of food.. the service was excellent and the pricing is very low for what you get. I would highly recommend that you try it I promise you won’t be disappointed..
