Love this new spot in Oakland! The inside has such a good vibe to it and the staff are super friendly and it’s overall just very inviting. Food is also fantastic btw I especially like the wings with the Piña sauce that was fire and everything is sooooo affordable I was shocked! This is exactly the place Oakland (and South Oakland especially) needed. Can’t recommend enough.

Service – we waited quite some time at the bar.
After 9pm 20% tip is always included. Be careful when paying with card the machine might still ask for more tips, we tipped unknowingly, the bar keeper was honest to tell us that 20% is already included. Nice guy!
If you are in your late 20s you might find the crowd too young (we guessed as they were not drinking). Gene’s place just few meters, much cool university crowd with good music and vibes.

Stopped in on a Tuesday at 9pm at the old Oakland Mad Mex location on Atwood. Couple tables were there, nothing crazy. I ordered the fish tacos, cilantro lime rice and black beans. Side of habanero mango wing sauce for the tacos. Everything came out super warm and fresh. Great quality and flavor and a very kind staff. I had my expectations exceeded by far. I will return. Gracias!!!
