Palmetto offers a spacious dining atmosphere that can accommodate large groups, making it a great spot for gatherings. The bar area is large as well, serving a variety of drinks that complement the dining experience beautifully.

The gumbo was well-prepared, offering a rich flavor that showcases traditional Southern cooking.
The cornbread was a delightful side that complemented the main dishes, adding a touch of sweetness and texture.

Overall, Palmetto combines a vibrant atmosphere with good food and drinks, making it a solid choice for both locals and visitors.

My partner and I decided to try Palmetto Southern Kitchen + Bar on a whim, after a chilly walk on the Asbury Park boardwalk. We are incredibly in love with this restaurant! The vibe is wonderful, and we really enjoyed the music from tonight’s Acoustic Carousel. Our server tonight was Michael, and he was terrific. He helped us pick out different drinks to try, and had great recommendations. We really appreciated chatting with him. We only came for drinks and appetizers. My partner had the Wooden Wallflower, which he enjoyed very much. I had a -196 Strawberry Seltzer, which I thought was great. We shared the pimento cheese and crackers, as well as the cornbread. The crackers with the cheese were very unique and tasty. The cornbread was very buttery and soft and wet loved it. We are looking forward to coming back in the future to try entrees. The restaurant itself is right on the boardwalk, and the inside is comfortable and beautiful. If you happen to be on the boardwalk and are looking for a great late night restaurant to relax at, have a few drinks, and a bite to eat, give Palmetto Southern Kitchen + Bar a try!

I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Palmetto! From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the beautiful atmosphere and thoughtful decor—it truly transported me. The Charleston-inspired bar added such a charming touch, giving off serious Charleston, SC vibes.

The service was exceptional—timely, friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. As for the food, the raw bar was a standout! The oysters, shrimp cocktail, and crab dip were all incredibly fresh and flavorful. We also tried the fried chicken, which was cooked to absolute perfection. The fried green tomatoes were a new dish for me, and I was so glad I gave them a try—delicious! The cacio e pepe was another highlight, rich and perfectly balanced.

To finish off the meal, we shared the chocolate cake, which was not only delicious but also generously portioned—plenty for the three of us to enjoy.

To top it all off, the cocktail service was top-tier, elevating the entire experience. If you love trying new cuisine in a stunning setting with amazing service, Palmetto is a must-visit. I can’t wait to go back!

First time visiting and WOW. Absolutely incredible. First off, the staff (especially our server Jason) were fantastic and super attentive. The Mimosa Tower is the proper way to start a brunch session. The corn bread with honey lavender butter is the best corn bread I’ve ever had. Just the right texture and flavor. Now onto the main……the “Low Country Breakfast”…..every bit of perfection you can squeeze onto a plate. Biscuit and gravy, home fries, eggs and sausage patties. I am all about a good meal and they blew me away. I can’t say enough good things about it!! Perfect portion, delicious, full of flavor and seasoned just right. We also had the steak and eggs, same thing. Steak was perfectly done, juicy and delicious. Absolutely returning to this place asap. A welcome addition to the Asbury culinary family. Worth a trip if you’re heading out this way. 10/10 on everything.

Updated Review: They changed the menu and they switched from a whole food based healthy Vegan entree to Impossible brand toxic products. Huge disappointment.

Salmon was not fresh – fishy taste. The restaurant was practically empty.

VEGAN OPTION: They have a nice vegan entree. Trumpet mushrooms over a rice mixture and Brussels sprouts (photo attached). It’s not what the menu described, but it was good. The trumpets were a little too spicy. Next time I’ll ask them to go light on the seasoning. Maybe it was too much pepper, I’m not really sure. My mom’s fried chicken was a little pink. My husband had the filet mignon, which he said was excellent (better than any other restaurant in Asbury). The service was really slow, but they were really busy and have only been open a short time, so I’m sure they’ll work this out.

Highly recommend if you’re looking for something very filing overall good presentation, original 16 oz beer pint glasses. Shrimp excellent had a chicken wrap very good fresh cheese great quality. Place opened in March. The managers are on top of things. Place not packed we got in just before the wait. Food came fast, but wait staff seemed spread thin, large areas to cover we sat out. Very nice place this is a very modern restaurant design. I miss pops garage but this place has wonderful ambience. The wait time was improved and I think they do what they can to improve as they grow. Great
Place give them a try. Not really comfort food but all natural ingredients and chef skills show in the quality of the dishes.

We recently visited this restaurant during its opening weekend. The food was overall good, and I’m willing to give it another try in the future. They were understandably busier than anticipated, partly due to an event happening in Asbury. While the food quality shone through, there were some logistical challenges that need addressing, especially with the summer season approaching.

We ordered the crab dip, which was delicious and served with pork rinds and crackers for dipping. The grilled oysters, filet mignon, and shrimp and grits were also enjoyable dishes. However, the shrimp and grits did lack in seasoning and taste.
A few service hiccups stood out—the steaks were served without steak knives, and it took about 20 minutes to get one. No salt or pepper on the table to season your food. The bathrooms had run out of soap and paper towels, which made hand-washing inconvenient, and a lot of people were complaining.

Additionally, the service was slow, possibly because of the unexpected rush. A suggestion for improvement would be to station staff/host at both ends of the restaurant for greeting and seating customers, which would create a smoother experience for guests.

Overall, the food was promising, and with a bit more preparation and fine-tuning of operations, this place has the potential to be a hit, especially with the busy summer season ahead.

My friend and I could smell the amazing food from down the street, we just had to stop in. They have a Live country band playing that just added to the already warm atmosphere. The Food was off the charts good!! Highly recommend the cornbread with LAVENDER BUTTER! its otherworldly. As well as the pork roll hash. It cured the seasonal saddies. The Manager, Margo, made a visit to the table and she was the absolute sweetest!! Congrats on having Great Vibes!!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Palmetto. From the moment I walked in, I was transported straight to Charleston, with the gorgeous Southern-inspired decor and warm, inviting atmosphere.

Now, let’s talk about the food—wow! The fried green tomatoes were an absolute highlight. Crispy on the outside, tender and tangy on the inside, and paired with a rich, flavorful sauce that tied it all together. If you’ve never tried them before, this dish is an absolute must. The cornbread with lavender butter is another standout. The cornbread is perfectly moist, and the lavender butter adds a delicate, aromatic twist that elevates the dish to a whole new level. Finally, the shrimp and grits were some of the best I’ve ever had. The shrimp were perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, while the creamy grits were the ideal balance of richness and texture.

Every bite felt like a taste of the South, and with the beautiful coastal setting, it’s the perfect spot for a memorable dining experience. Highly recommend checking it out—you won’t be disappointed!
