Visited on 6/28/25 between 8:15pm-8:45pm. Used to live in CF almost 2 years ago and this place took over the former BK & a Cellular store. Went heavy on the interior aesthetic, but the outside is minimal in comparison. Suspect this place is owned by the same folks that own the former Starbecks before they relocated (again) near the John Deere Museum and rebranded the former now known as “Cindy Lou’s”. Less than 4 years ago the Starbeck’s had been next to the Subway/UPS strip across the street and Bobby Q’s had taken over that previous location. (now another Mexican restaurant). The reason I suspect that is because it has the same volume & type of decor + recognize a couple items that got relocated from the most recent former Starbeck’s location (Cindy Lou’s) such as the bronze metallic rooster that’s now painted out front of their door. Food was bland and didn’t much care for the band stage. Too much noise when there’s already plenty coming from other parts of the restaurant (Kitchen, TV’s, pool tables)… too much going on for a small space. At least this was cheaper than the 2 BBQ counterparts.

My wife and I came in this afternoon and sat at the bar around 3:30 and had several drinks and ordered food. The bartender was amazing the food was pretty good but you could tell there was tension in the air when the other bartender came in and immediately started complaining about ice. My wife and I are the type of people who like our glasses seasoned and a skinny blonde came behind the bar and snatched our glasses. Didn’t ask if we needed refills and our bartender noticed this and apologized as she had been seasoning our glasses the entire time we were there. based on the events of today’s visit I’m not sure if we will return. If we do it will be because of our amazing bartender who went above and beyond our expectations.

Today we stopped in at the newest restaurant in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and the Cedar Valley King Bucks. The decor inside is pretty cool. Lots of old classic signs, advertising and photos. They did an amazing job. Must have spent $100k in decor as it is everywhere!!! You walk in and order at the counter just like their other restaurant Starbeck’s Smoke House in Waterloo, Iowa, next door to the John Deere Museum. The food at King Bucks reminded us of our visits to Starbeck’s. Took about 15 minutes to get our food. Same corn bread (amazing), same Mac and Cheese (amazing if you like the real thing like mom used to make, not the yuck out of a blue Kraft box). I had the Starbeck burger a 1/3 pound patty with Starbecks brisket on a pretzel bun. My spouse had the Mushroom and Swiss burger with onion rings. The burgers were good, but not juicy. I question if the patties are made fresh or if they are pre-made/previously frozen. Nothing beats a fresh hand-made burger patty. The onion rings were a little over cooked for my liking as they have a heavy I assume it was a cornmeal based batter. Would have been better with a lighter batter and less cook time. The grandkids had kid chicken strips and they said they were 100 out of 10, so I assume they were excellent based on these picky eaters. We finished off with an order of the mini doughnuts and again the kids said 100 out of 10 and I did get to eat one before they were all gone and they were really good. All in all a good experience for a new restaurant open for 36 hous (lunch time on day two). We will be back in a month to give them another try, and can’t wait for their live music nights! I foresee this to be a fun place with a lot of potential after they get things running smooth. Check them out, give them a break the first month or so to get everything fine tuned!!!

Outstanding food. Best pork tenderloin sandwich I have eaten… maybe ever? Having the meat smoked adds a unique twist! Loved the panko breaded onion rings. Literally everything was delicious and food was out quickly. This might already be my new favorite spot for a meal.

Saw many conflicting reviews so wanted to try it – we loved the food we had. Our brisket was not dry like I’ve read before, nor was our food burned. We loved the appetizer nachos and you get so much for your money! My daughter loved her burger as did my husband. Only downside may have been how dark it was inside but it wasn’t awful. Also heard they have the best Mac and Cheese ever – it wasn’t bad but not the best in the area in my opinion. We had a staff member offer to wait on us which was also nice, though we don’t mind the self-serve approach either. Definitely give it a try and form your own opinions, I really liked the onion rings!

I ordered at the drive thru and waited nearly 30 minutes for my order. Then I had to remind them that I hadn’t gotten my drinks. It didn’t appear to be overly busy, but the server kind of acted like she had more important things to do. The food was a little on the cold side but still tasted fairly good. The corn bread was amazing!

We went through the drive through, and nobody answered for a good two or three minutes. Ended up doing take out. The service wasnt necessarily welcoming, but it wasn’t horrible either. Ended up waiting awhile for the takeout, and we never got any notice that our food was done. No yell or anything. Thus, it ended up sitting for a couple minutes before I asked the cook whose food it was. He didnt know right away, and there was no one else behind the counter. Very frustrating service experience. However, the food was absolutely amazing. The best nachos we have ever had, and the burger is consistently good. Overall, we’ve consistently had a moderate to bad experience. The service is the biggest issue by far.

If I could give a negative review I would.
We waited an hour for our food. Someone who got there half an hour after us got their food before us.
I got a blt and coleslaw. I was not impressed whatsoever. I could’ve made a better blt at home. My coleslaw looked like rotten milk. I ate a tomato by itself and even that didn’t taste good and that’s coming from someone who loves tomatoes.
My boyfriend got the starbecks burger and onion rings. The burger had no seasoning. The only thing that brought it slight flavor was the barbecue sauce. The onion rings were not good.
We both feel disgusting now and were not impressed.

We tried King Bucks for the first time because it was new and it looked interesting. Menu was a little basic but the food was pretty good and the value was very good. The portions were very big.
