Tried Karki restaurant today. Place is clean and has wonderful staff. Food is good but can do better. Momo needs more effort to meet Nepalese authenticity. Will try again in future to see how they evolve with time.

Pros: Chicken Kadhai was good
Cons: Ordered online & didn’t get half of what we ordered (they were out), flavors were so-so, the dessert was most definitely not what I ordered & looked thrown together (tasted awful)

I was so excited to find a restaurant that had pani puri, chicken manchurian, and kheer. I put in an online lunch order for these as well as ras malai, and chicken kadhai and chicken fried rice for my husband (the menu noted it’s their specialty). The restaurant called as my husband was pulling in and they were out of my two appetizers and the kheer dessert (my whole meal). We didn’t want to cancel on them so I figured I would share his. The kadhai was very good -the meat was tender and the sauce was delish. The portion, for the price, was a bit steep. Maybe a scant cup of meat, a cup of sauce, and a cup and a half of rice for $15 -no sides or bread. The chicken fried rice wasn’t great. Salt helped, but it was maybe a 5/10. The ras malai was really, really off-putting. I worried at one point that the balls were actually styrofoam and not food. Further, they were not in a cardamom condensed milk -they were in plain sugar syrup and they were definitely not cottage cheese patties. I checked against the website to ensure they didn’t prepare them a different way -I think, perhaps, they were out of that item as well and threw a few things together. It was, really, really bad. I would probably not try again -from being out of half our food to us only liking one item, too costly and too much of a risk.

My companions and I decided to give Karki a try on a late Monday afternoon, and we were not disappointed! The samosas came out crisp and piping hot, and our main dishes were flavorful and well seasoned. We ordered the tasty and beautiful lamb biriyani and rounded out the meal with lamb curry and Malabar fish curry. The lamb and fish were tender and perfectly cooked, and the gravy was spicy and delicious. Can’t wait to return to try some other items on their large menu!

No words good enough to describe this place. Discovered it less than a month ago and have already been here 4 times. Amazing selection of vegetarian foods, 4 different kinds of momos, each better than the last, authentic Nepali food which I couldn’t find anywhere nearby earlier (closest was in Chicago). Thalis have a wide variety, it’s not unnecessarily over spiced up, and the freshness levels of the meats and veggies are beyond amazing. Tried so many things here even apart from the momos and Thaali such as the Wai Wai soup (my personal favorite) and sadeko, chowmein, thukpa. The gravy of the jhol momo is probably the best one I have tasted in the entire United States. Aside from the food, the service is a solid 10/10. Decor is quite cute and not cluttered, and cleanliness is perfectly maintained too. In general, South Asian restaurants are relatively more expensive than others when you consider the price to serving size ratio and Karki’s is no exception, but it’s worth every penny of its value. Will keep visiting and updating this review with newer pics for the duration of my stay in Michigan, and highly recommend to anyone in this area for a wonderful casual dining experience.

Tried Karki Restaurant today and overall, was disappointed. We tried their Jhol Momo, Chicken C Momo, Sahi Korma and Chicken Naan. I didn’t care too much about the flavor profile. C Momo was much better than the Jhol Momo. We realized after we got home that Sahi Korma came with no rice. We didn’t go back to get rice as we live 30 mins away. Sahi Korma by it self wasn’t too bad. Chicken Naan was actually really good.

We enjoyed takeout later than other places were open. Sent my partner for pickup, so I did not see the location. Great flavor, very decent price with large portion size- I was pleasantly surprised. Very attentive customer service, I received a call minutes after ordering to verify an item. It was all warm and wonderful. Will order again.

Greeted with handshakes and good hospitality. Menu was simple but good. The atmosphere was great, so inviting! This is an amazing little hole in the wall bar with Nepali style food and games plus karaoke!
Decent selection of beer and drinks to choose from and prices aren’t too bad either. Got some table games you can play too. I will definitely go again!
