Off season we were greeted immediately!
Appetizers Brussels sprout: OMGODDESS these were the best Brussels sprout I have ever had!(I did not want to share)
Mussels: spiced to perfection!
Our main dishes were:
Fish of the day: salmon with cauliflower riced, roasted asparagus, mushrooms. Loved that it was light. Seasoning was refreshing! Cauliflower was creamy without the cream!
Daughter had the eggplant dish. Absolutely delicious! Perfect for vegetarians I kept taking bits
Smash burger is a must! I think it’s the best burger I have ever tried!
Olive oil cake was not overly sweet, just right! Lovey the lemon sorbet and candied fennel!
I have say: I felt like the food here was unique, fresh and well executed! We were all happy with TipsyTrout!
I would love to go back soon!

Their food menu is small but mighty. their drink menu is extensive.
Definitely glad I picked this spot for dinner!
The sushi rolls are 2-bite open rolls (like a sushi taco, if you must)
And the yellowtail was fruity and cheerful and simply delicious!

It may just been this single evening, but I found there were many areas that could be improved upon. First – let’s talk food. I had the beet salad which was okay – that would have been a solid 3. I also had the tandoori trout. Here I found the tandoori didn’t come through well and the trout texture was rendered mushy if you will by the preparation. In addition – as it was a semi whole fish instead of filet, you had bones and scale to contend with, making the experience less than ideal. With service, I understand it was busy and maybe they were under staffed but the attention was lacking in everyway – from ordering, next plate, refilling water. Atmosphere wise, it was certainly lively – perhaps a bit too loud – making the meal a bit distracting. Again it may just be this evening with the large crowds. Overall if I were to try again I would definitely get another dish.

We kicked off our visit to Spruce Peak with dinner at Alpine Hall, and it set the tone for a phenomenal stay. The space is open, upscale, and welcoming — the kind of place that effortlessly balances refined dining with a relaxed mountain vibe.

We started with the Steak Tartare and Duck Poutine — both beautifully plated and thoughtfully executed. Tartare is something we order often, and this version brought a creative twist we genuinely appreciated. But the Duck Poutine? That was the star of the show — deeply savory, rich, and incredibly comforting.

Emily opened with a Naked & Famous — a perfect choice to set the tone. Smoky, citrusy, and balanced, it was the kind of cocktail that quietly demands attention. After that, she pivoted to a crisp Sancerre, chosen from a truly impressive wine list. I kicked things off with Edward, a brilliant Pale Ale from Hill Farmstead, and then followed it up with a Focal Banger from The Alchemist — a bold, hoppy counterpoint that hit all the right notes.

Lauren, our bartender, immediately picked up on our curiosity and love for flavor. She guided us effortlessly — no pretension, just pure hospitality. We felt like we’d known her for years. When we met Katie, we dove even deeper into the wine and cocktail program. Her knowledge was generous, her enthusiasm contagious. We left Alpine already planning our return.

That plan changed slightly when we learned Lauren would be closing over at Tipsy Trout, the cozy, warmly lit seafood-forward spot right next door. And with an entirely different beverage selection? We were in.

Over at Tipsy Trout, the vibe shifted in the best way — intimate, fire-warmed, and perfect for sipping. I was floored to see Old Fitzgerald 11 Year on the shelf — a bottle I’ve chased for years, rarely seeing it without absurd markups. It was priced right and poured perfectly. Emily continued her white wine journey, sampling unoaked Chardonnays and revisiting Sancerre.

Lauren reappeared to suggest the Seafood Tower, and we’re glad she did. It turned heads all over the dining room — and for good reason. The oysters were so clean we didn’t even touch the mignonette. Lobster, crab, and other bites followed — all ultra-fresh, well-chilled, and beautifully presented.

We even discovered Bhakta 27 07 — a spirit with a wild, little-known story that Katie generously shared. It’s those moments — the hidden gems, the genuine service, the unexpected whiskey lesson — that truly made both dinners memorable.

If we have one regret, it’s that we only had one night to experience each restaurant. These aren’t just resort dining options — they’re destinations in their own right. We’re already figuring out how to return for Taste of Vermont and dive deeper.

My wife and I had an incredible experience at Tipsy Trout! The food was simply amazing! It’s the kind of place where you can tell the kitchen takes real pride in what they do. A special shout-out to Jimmy and Lauren behind the bar. They were absolutely fantastic! Very friendly, attentive, and truly skilled at crafting great drinks. Their energy and professionalism added so much to the overall vibe of the evening. We’ll definitely be back!

We were visiting friends and found no where to park. Eventually found a 5$/hour lot. The wait staff said we could validate our parking and get it free. They were wrong. We had a gift certificate from giftly.com and when we shared it with our server she said it had nothing to do with tipsy trout and we had to figure it out on our own. We did, but the server could have been a little nicer about it. We spent 300$ there. The food was spectacular- chef was awesome.

This place is a surprisingly great seafood spot in landlocked Vermont. Great drinks and great food. A lovely counter to traditional mountain fare. Our servers Lisa and Jennifer were absolutely lovely. Would return again!

Delicious seafood at the Tipsy Trout! Super yummy crab cake sliders to start! I also loved their scallops and lobster roll! I really enjoyed their refreshing cocktails, too! I was disappointed in their lack of seating accommodation. The restaurant was practically empty, and we requested a small booth for two. They said they were unavailable and then sat us at a loose screw table that became obnoxious really fast. The waiter was kind enough to adjust the table, placing a napkin underneath. It was aggravating to be dining for almost an hour and a half while seeing several booths remain empty the entire time! Great food, poor management up front.

My wife and I dined here last night. We each had a drink, split the Brussels sprouts and each had an entree. The Brussels sprouts were amazing – highly recommend. I had the frutti de mare and my wife had the trout. Both were delicious. Service was excellent. I would 100% come again.
