Our newest brick-and-mortar location is right on Bloomfield Avenue in Verona, NJ. We are best known for our RED HOTS (hot onions), mild meaty chili, and signature hot cherry pepper mashed potatoes! If you think you’ve had the best dirty water dogs and haven’t been to Chris’ Red Hots, you thought wrong! Try our famous cheese, chili, and potato combination, any classic combination, or mix and match our toppings to your liking. We are not called the ORIGINAL for no reason. Damn good dogs! First found about this place via their YouTube channel live streams and was lucky enough to visit in person. Staff is super friendly and doesn’t shy away from giving you a lot of condiments which are fresh and flavorful. Small but hospitable place with great service – just wish I lived a little closer so I could come more often!

I’m an old school down & dirty hot dog fan and this spot was recommended to me by a friend. So I stopped by and I’m really glad that I did! Service was great, food was phenomenal, couldn’t ask for a better experience. I got a spicy chili and cheese dog, a mustard kraut and onion dog, & a ketchup mustard relish onion and kraut dog. They were all absolutely delicious and I definitely will be returning! next time maybe I will try out the more modern signature style dogs, which sounded good as well. they seem to have daily or weekly specials going on as well. Will definitely recommend this spot to any hot dog fans.

We came from Ohio for a show in Jersey- but obviously we had to stop and see Anthony for some dogs on our trip. All of our hot dogs were awesome, my favorite was the Frito Pie and my boyfriend loved his sauerkraut with hot onions and mustard! (No pictures, ate them too fast, oops..) Anthony treated us so kindly, in fact all the locals in the store were so friendly. I wish we could have spent more time in Verona. He really made our stop in so special, asking us about our stay and even took a picture with us.
If you’ve never been here, you’ve gotta go! The dogs are incredible and the folks inside make it that much better. I’d give them 100 stars if I could. Thank you Anthony for being a highlight of our trip!

Chris’s Red Hots in Verona is hands-down one of the best spots around if you love amazing hot dogs and real comfort-food flavor. Everything here is hot, fresh, and absolutely loaded with taste, and the team behind the counter is always friendly, fast, and welcoming.
I’ve tried a bunch of their specialty dogs, and two of my absolute favorites are:
The Everything Dog — This one is unreal. It’s stacked with flavor from every angle, the perfect mix of toppings that turn a simple hot dog into something you actually crave again the next day.
The Too Hot for Miami — A total powerhouse. The cream cheese, jalapeños, chili, and Fritos come together perfectly. It’s spicy, crunchy, creamy, and comforting all at once. If you like heat, this one hits every note.
One thing I really love about Chris’s is how you can take a classic dog and customize it however you want. Want chili? Done. Extra onions? Easy. Cheese, jalapeños, chilli, whatever you’re in the mood for. They make it exactly the way you like it, and they nail it every time.
Portions are generous, the food is consistently excellent, and the whole place has that “neighborhood favorite” vibe you can’t fake.
If you’re anywhere near Verona, do yourself a favor and stop at Chris’s Red Hots. Between the specialty dogs and the fully customizable classics, you just can’t go wrong. One of the best in the area I highly recommend it.

So recently I went to JJ’s stand alone on 46 and was highly disappointed. Not what I remember of those late nights at the Truck in Newark.
Now… Chris’s man! This is what I was craving, this is a great dog. The spicy onions and the chili were fresh and flavorful.

Awesome little joint. Staff was friendly, patient and helpful. Walked in and needed a minute to figure out what I wanted. They helped other customers out until I was ready. Ended up settling on 2 dogs. One with chili cheese and potato and another with chili onions and potatoes. Both were excellent. I liked the one with onions more. The chili has a slight amount of heat and the addition of potatoes is unique. Their hot onions are excellent and cut through some of the richness of the chili. Will definitely be back to try more of their menu.

Best and most delicious hot dogs around if you’re hungry. My favorite were the Barbecue Cruncher that’s got homemade chili, cheese, fresh diced onions and crunchy potato sticks; also the Chiptole Cruncher that’s similar but without the potato sticks but with jalapeños. My photo’s don’t do it justice, just pop in there and order up.
