We had 3 tacos each and the street corn.

Carne Asada and Pollo Poblano were my favorite tacos. The corn was really tangy and spicy as well. Shake down shrimp was a banger as well.

I would stop by if you are in the area and craving some tacos !

Their salsa selection was great as well. I personally liked the habanero salsa which had the kick i wanted.

Great tacos !!

Taco Rock in Oakton absolutely nailed it again! This was my second time visiting, and it completely lived up to my first amazing experience. The chain does a great job of evolving its menu, keeping things fresh and exciting for regulars like me. I noticed their new popper menu, and while I didn’t get to try one this time, they looked really interesting—I’ll definitely be back for that!

As for my go-to veggie options, the cauliflower taco is hands down the best, whether in a blue tortilla or a lettuce wrap. The avocado taco comes in as a close second, followed by the mushroom. Each taco is packed with flavor, so well-seasoned that they don’t even need additional salsa. Their signature blue tortilla chips are a must-try, especially when paired with their delicious guac and queso.

The atmosphere here is always lively, and the bartender was fantastic—super friendly and actively engaging with the locals, making the experience even better. Whether you’re here for the tacos, the drinks, or just the great vibe, Taco Rock never disappoints. Can’t wait for my next visit!

I had three tacos. One was the special, called “Beach boy”, I had the al pastor and also the pollo poblano. The al pastor and the pollo poblano lacked flavor. The toppings were icy cold and the meat wasn’t very hot, due to the toppings being cold. The beach boy was so super salty. I took one bite of it and did not eat the rest. It was as if I ate a spoonful of salt. My husband tasted it and agreed that it was a salt bomb.

First visit here I had the barbacoa taco and the carne asada taco. The meat on both was dry and bland. The “blue corn” tortillas are made with food coloring (don’t ask how I know). Second visit I had the puffy beef, gringo, and fried avocado tacos, which were all decent but way overfilled and messy to eat.

Today I walked in and started placing an order on the touch screen (humans don’t take your order at this establishment) when the bartender told me I needed to leave and come back because they weren’t open for another seven minutes. Why was the door open then? Considering this place is empty every time I go, I found it shocking they would turn away a customer into the cold (it’s snowing today) rather than let me seat myself in their big empty restaurant for a couple minutes until they get it together.

My family has been enjoying the food since this restaurant opened (tacos are great, but nachos are also a favorite!) The restaurant exceeded my expectations this weekend when I went and placed a small to-go order and what came out was not what I expected. They did nothing wrong, but immediately realized I expected something different and created a custom order that totally exceeded my expectations. Top notch customer service! I don’t often write reviews but I was so impressed with Taco Rock I had to in this case!

Glad to have a new “dive bar” place in Oakton. I visited Taco Rock twice in one day and was pleased with both visits. I found the process of ordering to be quick and intuitive. It helps they have pictures of the food on the tablet menus near the entrance. I would recommend that guests should be able to get their own fountain drink cups after they pay. When I came both times, I had to ask for cups. I appreciate the separate bar and seating area. Overall, impressed with the location and food!

I got a chicken torta. The staff didn’t get the order in the system correctly so I had to wait a long time. Staff wasn’t real attentive. I have never seen so much lettuce on a sandwich before. Very thick sandwich, at least half was lettuce. After removing at least a head of lettuce (joking, slightly) the sandwich not terrible but not amazing either. Have to try a taco sometime. Not my best meal or experience.

Taco, may seem simple but is anything but the case. The general build of the taco: meat, accompany with herbs/veggies (in some situations, in a pickled form), cuts the grease while brings an additional freshness and sauce, adds the extra moisture layer.

Definitely recommend the rockfish taco. The softness of the fish with the crunchy batter, plus the toppings not only adds the to the flavor but also to the overall texture combination. This is a delicate goodness all wrapped in the corn tortilla.

Taco Rock is a repeat visit for sure!

Fajitas were awful. Although chicken fajitas were served sizzling on the mandatory cast-iron serving pan on a wooden trivet, at first glance, and at the sound of the sizzle, all seemed promising. The positive first impression soon fizzled, noting that the chicken breast was obviously cooked whole, cross-hatched, grill-marked, then sliced and placed on top of a thinly sliced onions and bell peppers on the hot fajita pan. The chicken breast was cobweb-dry and rubbery. I couldn’t eat it. I ate some of the onions and bell peppers, but they were undercooked, and I specifically asked for the vegetables to be charred. The only quality ingredient on the serving pan was a wonderful charred jalapeño pepper that was enjoyable to eat.

Corn chips and salsa, which are typically complimentary in small ethnic restaurants in my experience, were okay. The chips looked and tasted like Mission brand tri-color triangle corn chips. The black beans that came with the fajitas were flavorful. I did not care for the rice, which had a floral hint in taste. The flour tortillas, tightly wrapped in foil, were hot but moist, which did not create a good mouthfeel.

I could not taste tequila in the margarita, but I think that’s because they use fizzy ice (tiny air bubbles in the ice). Fizzy ice, also known as aerated ice, melts much faster than solid ice, diluting drinks

The bar is rectangular with seating on three sides, seating about 22 people. It has very comfortable, lightweight aluminum bar chairs with backs. Lighting is modulated. The bar is the focal point of the space and ideal for socializing. Five stars for bar design and ambiance. The bar is also the only place for food service. The restaurant area is self-service, with customers ordering at self-service kiosks lined up in the front of the restaurant. I dined at the bar.

Taco Rock seems to be a fast food restaurant with a bar, in my estimation.

Amazing tacos and margaritas at great prices
I got the Piggy Mac, Smashburger, and Birria tacos, and they were all delicious. Others at the table said the Double Deuce, Breakfast, and Rockfish were also good. I can’t wait to go back and try out more on the menu!
