My husband and I went to Olivia’s for Valentines day. While I was initially hesitant to only be able to book a bar reservation, the bar seating itself is actually very pleasant. Its not uncomfortable bar stools. The seats are cushioned and i felt like i had plenty of elbow room. The bartender Raquel was phenomenal. Not only was she serving the entire restaurant, she was checking on us as if we were her sole focus for the evening. She also made an incredible drink for me when I wasn’t sure what to order off menu, when I asked her what it was called so I could order it somewhere else she told me she just put it together based off my preferences. The food was incredible, we did the French onion soup and we both got specials and finished with the cheesecake (ginger Basque at the time). We will absolutely be back for the food alone but I truly needed to call out Raquel who clearly loves her job. She was attentive, kind, sociable, knowledgeable and honestly made our experience more memorable. The food speaks for itself and I will recommend this place to all my friends and family…but i will also tell them to sit at the bar and hope they get Raquel.

10/10. Non-alcoholic beverage options , Unreal pistachio bread pudding dessert custard? Forgot the actual name of the dessert lol but it was phenomenal. The miso haddock was also superb. Topped it off with French press coffee. We will be back !!!!

This place is an 11/10, no questions asked the best restaurant in New Bedford/Fairhaven area. Food is amazing, service is incredible — I seriously have never felt so welcomed at a restaurant before. Place is above and beyond, hope they expand one day so it’s more accessible than having to make reservations in advance every time (understandable with the minimal seating)— but I would eat here everyday or take it to go if that was possible lol. Love Olivia’s!

TL;DR: make your reservation NOW !
Stellar service from everyone (ask for Joey), delicious drinks (the Harbormaster!!!!) and innovative dishes like the tuna tartare (a MUST). Make sure to add the anchovies on the Caesar and the churros for dessert. Perfect from start to finish!

WOW! I haven’t been this impressed with a restaurant in a while. Olivia’s makes fine dining feel comfortable and accessible for the average person. Immediately upon walking in, you can see how much attention to detail was paid and how much the owner cares about service. Each server who walked by greated us, refilled our water or offered to clear and bag the many dishes we ordered.

Our server, Joey, was kind, attentive and knowledgeable—highly recommend asking for him, if possible. While not my servers, Monique, Olivia and others were also very kind and attentive.

To drink I had the Blackberry Margarita (good, but I’m not a big reposado fan) and the Harbormaster (strong and delicious, spectacular, give me 14 of them).

For our appetizers, we tried the focaccia, the truffle fries (I’ve been converted to a truffle fan) and the tuna tartare, which is the newest addition on my ‘Best Things I’ve Ever Eaten’ iPhone note. The tartare’s presentation, texture and taste were so spot on and I could happily eat it every day.

I also got a Caesar salad and added the anchovies, at Joey’s recommendation. Do not skip the anchovies, even if you don’t typically like them!! These anchovies are the perfect match to the salad and have such a light flavor and texture.

For my meal, I got the NY Strip Special, which was topped with a prosciutto fig jam and whipped brie. It was served with roasted fingerling potatoes and grilled broccolini, all of which were delicious. My dining partner ordered the seared scallops and pea risotto, which was also phenomenal.

We ended the meal with a table touch from the owner and a plate of fresh, hot churros.

It’s obvious from the moment you walk in that the owner pays attention to detail and truly cares about providing stellar service and stellar food. It’s just as beautiful as it is delicious.

Olivia’s is something to be proud of.

We had an amazing dinner at Olivia’s for my mother’s 92nd birthday! We all LOVED it! I had a burger and passion fruit buffalo wings. Incredible! We also had Alla Milanese(haddock), seared scallops, steak frites, and local mussels Portuguese style. Our server Monique was kind, super timely, and pleasant. I highly recommend (and be sure to try the churros and choc chip cookies with milk!!).

Tried Olivia’s for the first time. This is not your everyday restaurant. Started with a bourbon beer they had on tap. Had their little neck clam chowder. Server added some fresh ground pepper. Thought it was very good. Could have used a little salt. Had the Maryland Crab cakes. Comes with two, which if you’re hungry can easily be eaten by yourself. The Crab cakes were phenomenal, exceptional, outstanding. Highly recommend you be the judge. For dinner, I had the NB seared scallops with couscous chilled salad. I thought they were good. Would likely try something different next time. Very pricey, not for the faint hearted.

I spent the evening at Olivia’s with dear friends and we had a simply spectacular meal with great service.

We enjoyed Brussels sprouts, clam chowder, French onion soup, scallops in bacon for appetizers and each was constructed with care and perfectly cooked. The scallops and Brussels were my favorites and given this area is one of the world’s scallop “capitols” it was definitely worthy. Perfect bacon. Perfect scallops. Seasoning and presentation were phenomenal.

We ate the strip steak, the lomo soltado (which I’d never have and i didn’t order, but had the chance to taste a companion’s and it will be my order next time!), the haddock Milanese and the scallop risotto. The meal was prepared perfectly, tasty all around, and presented timely for those of you who consider that important. We weren’t rushed, had interactive and fun banter with our server Joseph, and his goofiness made the night even better. The owner was hands on, in the restaurant but not invasive. His presence was welcome. The drinks, prepared by Raquel and another barkeep were fantastic. I’m a Negroni snob/aficionado and it was perfection. Others had kiwi sour and some of the non alcoholic cocktails that were beautiful.

One of our party had worked at the restaurant but the care and attention we’d received was similar to that of the other parties on a busy Wednesday night, and there were smiles at every table. The crowd was lively but the space, though small in size, was uncramped and not noisy. The open kitchen was cool and the bar was beautiful. The entire space was comfy and could be romantic or family friendly, whichever your poison.

Dessert was affogato and was great!

As a former restaurant owner, I was impressed. As a diner, dinner was awesome. Thanks to the staff at Olivia’s for making an awesome night. Thank you! Will be back!!

It lives up the hype and then surpasses it! We had a party of four and every single bite was epic. Cocktails were creative and perfectly balanced. Baker’s focaccia was top notch. We had fish and seafood dishes and they were all exquisite. Dessert was to die for. This place is legit and worth more than what they’re charging honestly.

Went Back to Olivias today 05/31/2025, 3 months after my first time here with my husband and the daughter. The waiter and the manager remembered my husband and I. It was just my husband and I this time. The waiter was very thoughtful of mentioning my 2 year old daughter. Once again, the food and drinks were delicious. The service was impeccable. They make sure to always clean up the empty plates and glasses. Always checked on us. The manager takes the restaurant hospitality very seriously and he apologized for the long wait last time we were there 3 months ago. I really appreciate how they remembered us and I was not expecting that at all. I am changing my review to 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ and I will definitely come back again and recommend to all my family and friends. Thank you.

Make sure you make a reservation a few weeks ahead of time. Is a small restaurant and they are only open for dinner at 4pm. I made reservations for my husband, my almost 2 years old daughter and my self for 4pm on a Saturday. They had high chair but no diaper change area in the bathroom. It took at least 10 min for the waiter to come offer water, but he apologized and said that was a table assignment confusion. But we were in the middle of the restaurant so I wished someone came over to check on us instead of my husband having to request someone to bring water.
The food was delicious and the place is well decorated and everyone is very professional. We spend about 150 dollars + tip.

We visited this adorable coastal neighborhood spot and it was immediately clear — this is the place to be. The restaurant was absolutely packed, with a lively buzz and a crowd that clearly knows this is a local favorite.

The focaccia (sourced from “The Baker” in New Bedford) was the perfect start — warm, pillowy, crispy edges, and bursting with flavor. Cocktails were creative and fun, a great complement to the seafood-focused menu. My friend tried the French onion soup and loved its rich, savory broth — a cozy classic done well. The fish & chips were spot on: light, crispy batter with tender, flaky fish inside.

The only miss for me was the haddock — beautifully presented but lacking in flavor compared to everything else on the table.

What really made the evening though was our server, Joe. He was an absolute standout — incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely fun to interact with. Truly 10-star service — the kind of server who elevates your whole dining experience.

All in all, a charming spot with great energy, excellent dishes (with just one miss), and world-class service. I’d happily come back.
