As we rolled into town, there were no less than twenty cars lining the street outside of the bar. Every table was packed inside, and a single waitress was running around serving up everyone’s drinks, food, and cleaning up tables and plates. It didn’t take long for her to pick up our table, and me being my food connoisseur self, I had to grill her about the best items on the menu. She led me to ordering a beef Philly, and as an appetizer, we opted for the “Pick 5 Platter,” where we could select five partial orders of appetizers. We ended up selecting a double order of mac & cheese bites, cheese curds, fried cauliflower, and onion rings. For our other main course, my girlfriend chose the Mushroom Swiss Burger.

Oh. My. Goodness. Let me tell you something. I am a college student. I am a businessman. I am a traveler and an author. But one thing I am not is a liar. And I cannot lie that Dew Drop Inn of Kennard, Nebraska has some of the best, if not THE best bar food I’ve ever had. Honestly, I was shocked. Here’s the rundown. The Beef Philly wasn’t made of your typical shredded beef and frozen peppers, instead, it was small “petals” of beef covered in some blend of seasoning that melted in my mouth. The bread was soft, the peppers were freshly cut, and the cheese brought the whole thing together. My girlfriend agreed with me about the quality of her meal. After one bite of her burger, she gave me this “holy moly” look, and attested that it was “seriously one of the best burgers, if not the best burger she’s ever had.” Again, it was all in the seasoning and the cook time. Everything was perfect, and even the giant portabella mushroom speared on top of the burger had its own unique flavor. That plate of appetizers we ordered? Delicious. Tater tots and French fries (the sides to our main courses) were cooked to perfection. The mac n cheese bites were small, heavenly gifts of goodness, as were the cheese curds. The onion rings were crispy and enormous. And, for the first time ever, I tried fried cauliflower and was quite surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The portion sizes were very generous!

A couple of other things I should mention. Wednesdays are Wing Wednesdays, where enormous wings are served, and the price is reduced as a special. Tuesdays are Taco Day, which means the kitchen is dishing out (what I was told to be) phenomenal nacho plates and nacho supremes, tacos, enchiladas, and more. On Thursdays and Fridays, the lunch specials are Cook’s Choice, which I’m sure are as out of this world as the rest of the food. The special on Tuesday is an 8oz sirloin with two sides, and on Wednesday, it’s broasted chicken. The salads go great with the house-made Italian dressing, and there’s also pattie melts, fish and chicken sandwiches, chicken Phillys, pork tenderloins, shrimp, and other goodies to enjoy.

Rod, Jen, Natasha, and company will treat you to a dining experience that you’ll never forget. Good luck with everything, I’ll be back to try your wings with some friends at some point!

I met up with a couple of friends at The Dew Drop for drinks and dinner. I had an amazing time. Casual atmosphere and friendly personable staff. The drinks were great and the food .. let me tell you., I ordered a patty melt with sauteed onions., mushrooms and jalapenos. It came with a mound of hot and crispy curly fries. Without a doubt hands down zero competition that was the best patty melt I’ve ever had. Ever. I will definitely be coming back.

We were just passing through and stopped at the Dew Drop Inn for lunch. We have the smoked pork chops And hamburger both were very good. The staff was very friendly and interactive. Lots of locals were eating there, and it was just a good experience. If out in that area, give it a try.
