Highly recommend, and the shishito peppers and poke bowl are phenomenal.
Brandon was great, friendly & prompt service, huge servings, plenty to take some home. We will be back!!
To the management: Please add something with protein for vegans, such as a veggie burger (not Beyond Burgers though- all chemistry), a noodle dish with veggies, veggie pizza with plant based cheese. Also found the pricing of $14 (!) for this appetizer plate of brussel sprouts to be excessive.
The area on the deck by the pool table needs to be a bit cleaned up.
I’d give it a couple weeks, though, for them to iron out the kitchen kinks … took 45 minutes from being seated to getting our food. Our server, who also works at the Waikiki location, was apologetic but there wasn’t much she could do. We saw that tables around us weren’t getting their dishes any faster – but we were patient since we knew that it was their first night. She acknowledged they expected a slow night …. But Hawaii Kai has been waiting for this place to open, so expect crowds as word gets out.
The food was excellent – my husband loved his Fish Tacos – the fish in my Fish and Frites and in his dish were fresh and perfectly fried, as good as Nico’s in town. The fries were ok.
They didn’t change the old Liko’s layout or decor much – tonight the crowd seemed younger compared to the Liko’s regulars, hopefully this means they’ll be drawing from a wider dining pool.
We’ll return after a couple weeks and I fully expect to award more stars once their kitchen hits their stride.
We were also lucky enough to sample a few possible Italian desserts from Chef Nicole’s family recipes, and they were absolutely delicious. They are homemade, authentic, and made with love.
Big shoutout to bartender Tod for the excellent service and friendly vibes. He really made the experience even better. You can feel the aloha spirit in every detail here. Can’t wait to come back for more! ️
We got shishito peppers and fresh off the boat fish sandwich that came with fries.
A Truly and margarita for the cocktails.
