Their Chapel Hill kolache was old, dry and inedible, while the dough had a chemical-like aftertaste. The cream cheese kolache was too sour with a wierd texture. D:

$6.48 for a coffee is absolutely ridiculous. I have been a loyal customer here since they opened. The coffee used to be under $5 when I started going. They have lost a loyal customer.

I was initially concerned that manvel would allow a larger chain type donut business like Shipleys to open up so near a family donut business like Dear Donut Man. I thought they’d go under quickly.
Admittedly, I too most times will yield to a chain and go there instead. And today, I did that.
I went to shipleys which is no more than 300 ft away from Dear Donut Man. At Shipleys, soon as I was asked over the drive-thru, ‘may I take your order’, and I started to make it, whoever was working the drive thru busted out laughing and carrying on a conversation with someone for like 5 seconds.
I didn’t know if they were making fun of me or not, so I just drove off, thinking how rude that was.
I drove over to Dear Donut Man and the lady took my order quickly, nicely and the food was great.
The concerns I had that Dear Donut Man would close because a Shipleys opened so close are unfounded. I wrote a review on Shipleys for their poor customer service and found tons of bad reviews for that particular Shipleys. Wow! Not good at all. I see a lot of the responses are ‘Sorry to hear about your bad experience…we strive…yada yada’. Just the same old same old from ‘management’ in hoping we take these responses to mean the issues will be addressed.
They do not seem to have been addressed at all.
I’d give your business to this family shop rather than this Shipleys next door. You’ll be so glad you did.

I love this place. Being a city councilman for Manvel, I take breakfast from here to our city workers every other month, as a way to show my appreciation for our hard working crew.
