I went with a group of 4 of us just this past friday evening. I started with a watermelon mule.. horrible. We each got an appetizer and shared them around the table.. the appetizers were very good! When it came time to order I ordered the steak sandwhich and asked for it to be medium rare.. the waitress informed me they were so thin they only came well done.. so my mom and I both decided to order the new York strip dinner. My mom ordered hers blue rare and I ordered mine medium rare. They both came out very well done! We both sent our food back, my mom wanting a new steak and me not wanting it at all.. my dinner came with salad bar so I told the waitress I would pay for the salad I had. The bill comes and mine was over $30.00… they charged me $10.50 for my little dinner salad and mind you the whole steak dinner was $16!! Then the next day there was a lot of talk from the owner and cook about how pissed they were we sent our food back…. im sorry but if you cant tell the difference between rare and well done maybe you shouldn’t be in the kitchen. I Know I will never be back! The only positive thing was the appetizers and the waitstaff!

I was here a year ago & it was pretty small, the place has been renovated and they did a pretty damn good job. The staff is friendly & it’s kept pretty clean. I had the 2 piece with some & it was actually pretty amazing & inexpensive. No matter the reason you end up in Clarion, Iowa you should do yourself a favor & stop in! It’s worth your time. I’ll upload some pics soon.

Stopped by here while in clarion. Multiple people split meals, they even cut the chicken tenderloin in half for us. Very good food and great service.

This is a great place to go! We have been going there for many years and the food is always delicious! My favorites are the breaded tenderloin w/all the veg and the boneless chicken wings. Chappys is a great place to head to on those times you just want to go out for a change. Calling their menu “bar food” is selling them short. Beer is always super cold and the staff are friendly.

Wow! Had lunch there today and I’m so very impressed. Great friendly service and quite possibly the best tenderloin sandwich I’ve ever had. I will definitely be back!

Why this gets a 2 star is because we have 4 of us at work that like to order takeout. We like to pay individually for our meals. Well, Chappys will not let you do this. It has to be all on one check, and even when we each order by our own phones, they still combine it into 1. We would eat here at least once a week if not more, but they won’t accommodate this. Sucks they are willing to lose a few hundred dollars worth of service by not letting us tip and pay individually.
update: Thank you, management, for responding. The only reason I posted this was because last Thursday, December 28, the waitress I spoke to said “no we only do one check.” So, thank you for clearing this up.

We were “those people” who came in 30 minutes before kitchen closes and ordered a whole meal. They were great about it and very friendly. The food was big portions for the price and tasted great. I’d definitely stop back in!

Awesome service, waitress/bartender was super nice, our food came out super fast, and was absolutely wonderful!! First time there, will definitely make the 35 minute drive to be repeat customers! Noticed the “for sale” sign in the window… Hope whoever buys it keeps it exactly the way it is!
