Sarku has good food but its a little bland. It tastes like they don’t put any seasoning on the cabbage and the chicken could use more flavor. The price is fair. It was about $12 for a meal. But don’t let how they plate it fool you, there is not much meat. I rearranged you so you can see how much meat there really is. All the meat fits into the small compartment for sides.

We ate there on presidentt day week end. We ordered beef with rice and vegetables. Honestly the amount of beef absolutely nothing to the rice amount. The fill the box with rice and give you beef amount equal to a half burger or less and they cut them small strips so they look a lot. Very very disappointed from the amount. Disrespectful to pay more than $10 to get rice and one piece of broccoli mainly. Please stop being cheap on the beef amount . Raise the price if you have too.

My son got the bento box. The cashier wearing sunglasses asked us if we wanted California
Rolled I said yes! Thinking it was part of the Beto box but they trick us and charge us separate for a California roll 6$ extra! She didn’t try fixing the problem and just said I asked you, what you wanted it.
Obviously I assumed she was asking what we wanted as part of the bento box!
This place is not the same as it was and don’t care about costumer service because they could

When we got in line to order, no one was behind us. The guy at the register kept aggressively yelling “next” trying to push us along. We wanted to ask what kind of dumpling they had but got an answer that was super confusing. They didn’t direct us to where to get the food and when we found it waiting they were pushing it out of the way as we tried to grab it. There was also one person looking at the menu behind us and once I paid the cashier again starting yelling aggressively “next.” I understand if there’s a long line, and you want to be efficient, but there was no one and it was straight up rude, aggressive, and uncalled for behavior. The food is ok. Order online if you like it, but they also don’t have the full menu online, so who knows what’s going on with this place.

Summary: The good old teriyaki chicken and other protein that we know and love! They’re still standing after the pandemic as other food court places have shut down. Prices start at $8.09 for chicken teriyaki and portions are smaller. Still taste good though.
Malls aren’t complete without Sarku Japan and I’m really happy to see that this one is still around at the Rockaway mall. Inflation sucks and I definitely saw it with the increase in prices vs the portion sizes that Sarku offers now. The chicken teriyaki is still my favorite.
Choose between chicken, beef, and other protein. Prices vary depending on the protein type. Then choose white rice, fried rice, or lo mein. Veggies or no veggies, just let them know. And then you gotta ask for extra sauce at the end! They also have sushi but I wouldn’t recommend it.

Have loved this place for many years, but they’ve cheaped out with their Veggie Delight meal. Absolutely no veggies on it except for cabbage. So your vegetarians are eating sauced cabbage over rice without even a speck of broccoli or carrots.

Portions at this mall is terrible compared to Bridgewater or Menlopark mall. I tried ordering extra chicken the 2nd time having lunch here because I knew the chicken portion wouldn’t be enough. Instead I was charged 2x for 2 chicken combos with double the vegetables but barely any additional chicken. It’s hard to communicate with the workers there.
