I’ve now dined with Restaurant L twice. My first experience was 5-star worthy, when accounting for some minor service bumps given it had just opened. Unfortunately, my second visit was not as pleasant.

While the food is what you would expect for a fine dining establishment, the compliments stop there. Service was choppy with little personal touch. Our table, which spent about $150+ a person, felt ignored given the Chef and Maître D’ spent 20+ minutes each with the neighboring table and completely ignored our party. Moreover, one of our courses had to be replated due to a service error. Our first course took about an hour to come out from when we were first seated due to service delays. The ice cream in the dessert course was melted due to mistimed service (they carried out the desserts shortly after our entrees only to swiftly duck back into the kitchen after realizing their error). The entrees seemed to be under a heating lamp for a while and were not at a good temperature. Gratuity used to be included and I was surprised to find that is no longer the case.

I wish the ownership here the best, but I fear that I can no longer patronize this restaurant. Instead, your money and evenings are better spent at some of its peer restaurants.

Restaurant L was recommended to me as “the best chef restaurant in the Midwest” and I decided to make reservations for dinner to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Every aspect of pur visit was absolutely SUPERB! We eat out a lot and consider ourselves foodies. We travel all over the country and the world and try local cusine as well as chef ran restaurants. This was by far one of the best chef’s tasting menus we have ever had. We tried almost everything on the menu by getting the menu gourmand for one and the three course menu for the other. We ranked our dishes and compared the flavors. The food was spectacular. The scallop dish was our number one, followed closely by the duck, the foie gras and the lobster salad. The different textures and combination of flavors really played a fantastic orchestra on our palate and I absolutely adore the use of seasonal ingrediants. Radishes were featured in multiple courses and on a number of cooking techniques that was just exquisite. The service was beyond phenomenal and the entire atmosphere does not fall and even surpass some of the 3 Michelein star places in NYC and LA. This is not a casual dinner, it is an invesement in a culinary show that should be reserved for the most special occasions. We did not get to meet Chef Jean Robert unfortunately, but we will definetly be back to try the winter menu. I highly recommend this restaurant and have only praises to sing about the food. 5 stars!

Most fabulous dining experience we have had in years. Restaurant L offers an atmosphere and menu unlike any other in Cincinnati if not the region. My wife and I dinned at Restaraunt L for our anniversary dinner. We choose the 6 course Menu Gourmand. We were impressed with the taste and presentation of each course. The staff was incredibly attentive and it all reminded me of dinners at The Maisonette years ago.

I am a guy that usually goes for a large, bone in ribeye when I go out for a nice dinner. I was a bit concerned that the portion sizes would leave me hungry and wanting to grab a burger on my way home from dinner. However, after the meal I was completely satisfied. Not only with each mouth wattering bite but also the amount of food I was served over the 6 courses. I wish I would have remembered to take a picture of the main course, unfortunately I forgot, but below are pictures of a few of the other courses.

Although the night was perfect in every way, from the food to the doting staff, I do feel like I need to mention that the price is also unlike anything else in Cincinnati. My wife and I do not drink alchohol so our bill included our meal and 2 non-alcoholic drinks. The total before tip was $278.00. Not that I’m complaining about the price, I just want you to be prepared. They do have more affordable dinner options like the 2 and 3 course dinners or the lounge A La Carte menu. We will definately be back but this is a once a year kind of place for our budget.

I would reccomend Restraunt L for your next special occasion. You will most assuredly leave satisfied and with a memorable experience under you belt.

Special thanks to Alex our main waiter for being so patient with us as we had him translated each course into a description we could understand. Also to co-owner Richard who chatted with us and made sure our anniversary dinner was just right!

It’s good portions are very very generous for this type of cuisine. 4.5 stars seems more correct, nice to have some new haute dishes to try, a lot of nice extras are thrown in and really the 2 course menu should leave you stuffed, the 3 course put us in a coma..

I had a great lunch at Restaurant L this past Friday. I believe that is the only day they are open for lunch at this time. I had this incredible soup, a great burger and chips. One of the people I ate with ordered an appetizer that was also very good.

I echo all the sentiments shared here – gorgeously designed interior (Richard, your taste is impeccable!) with stunning views of the city. As always the service was stellar and the food – words can’t express adequately how outstanding it tasted! It’s as if you can taste the thought, time, and love Jean-Robert puts into crafting his menu. So happy that my significant other and tried the Menu Gourmand which made the evening an unforgettable dining event!
