Stopped into jumbos on a snowy morning. The dining room was busy, but we were seated immediately. Waitress very attentive. The coffee was hot and delicious – my mug was refilled throughout breakfast. While the menu isn’t very large, the food we did have was delicious. Classic American diner – would recommend!!

So glad to find this place after a beautiful bike ride in the surrounding area. What a great find! Very cute inside, super nice server, and the BLT and burger we had for lunch really hit the spot. Plus, they have an in house baker and we bought 3 donuts and a giant cookie for the road. We will definitely be back!

We have been passing this diner since it opened on the drive from Fort Drum to Potsdam, but we never had enough time to stop. Today, we did, and wow, it was such a treat! The aesthetic is amazing, and the food was truly a delight. My husband and I got buffalo chicken wraps, my toddler got a grilled cheese that had me envious , and the 6 year old had chicken tenders and fries. The food was all delicious, the staff was outstanding, and we can not wait to stop in again to try the fried green beans!

The place has been completely redone inside and looks wonderful. The burger was really good sized and cooked so that was nice and juicy. The onion rings were also done wonderful and the breading had a good flavor.

Had brunch with friends here yesterday. Our waitress appeared to hang out in the kitchen all the time. When I needed coffee, I had to get her from the kitchen (she was just talking to other employees). I again had to go get her to pay our bill. The 3rd time I went to the kitchen to ask she clear our plates, etc so we could chat with our friends. The place was not busy – she just wasn’t present.
The food was very mediocre. The chip beef gravy I had was tasteless. My wife tasted it and said the same thing. I did not eat it!
It was a disappointing experience…we will not be returning.

Decided to try jumbos now that it’s under new management, as I used to like it before. Disappointed would be an understatement. Service was horrible (and attitude of one waitress was horrible), and they weren’t even busy – it was my group of six and two other couples who had both received their food by the time we ordered. Don’t expect a refill unless you basically demand one, the couple near us got up and filled their own drink at the machine during one of the many little breaks the two waitresses were in the back for. And when they weren’t in the back they were standing there watching the few people in there and looking at empty cups but making no move to do anything about it or check on the tables in general. Our food also took awhile, which is a bit crazy since our 6 meals were the only thing being cooked. Four of us got the fish fry meal (it was ~5pm) – the fish and macaroni and cheese were lukewarm at best and tasted like they had been cooked and sitting in a warmer since late morning. They did offer fries in replacement of the inedible macaroni and cheese though. The two other meals were a burger and a panini, the burger was the only thing that came out hot. And to top it all off the waitress brought the checks and let us pay, I had to ask if I could get a box since I had half my meal left. It wasn’t until then she let us know it was $1 for a tiny to go box. This new management should think about some serious changes if they expect to remain open…especially change in staff, or training at least.

Good local diner. Check hours before you go to be sure they are open. They close early. The $30-50 is a large lunch with 2 with drinks.

Edit: after I wrote this good review I was informed that jumbos charges .50 cents for a glass of tap water (I didn’t inspect the receipt). And they continue to “justify” it on social media. For this reason I’m changing my review from a 4 to a 1 and no longer recommend.
First time here since new ownership. Disclaimer, I’m local to this diner. And typically if I don’t have a good review for a local establishment I won’t leave one at all. But this IS a good review. I ordered the cheeseburger deluxe with fries and my buddies son ordered a BLT with fries. He must have enjoyed it because he ate it all. The waitress never asked how I wanted my burger cooked so I let it ride to see how it was cooked. It was medium-well. Perfect. The patty was on the verge of being too small for the bun, but it was a delicious burger. The fries were waffle fries(which I like) and so I cleaned my plate. Waitress was nice and attentive. Atmosphere is really nice for a diner(which it has been) but the prices now seem to reflect diner food, which it is. I will definitely be back and recommend. Sorry I usually add pictures but forgot to take one.

Ordered takeout on Friday. It was a busy evening for the staff and everyone is still learning. The food was amazing. Got the cheeseburger BLT with waffle fries. Hopefully those who left a bad review try them again. They are giving a lot of our communities youth an opportunity to get job experience. That is hard to come by in Gouverneur. Be patient and give good feedback so they can provide great service.
