$27 dollars of disappointment for six wings, greens, mac& cheese and roll, a side of potatoes salad and sweet potatoe pie. The Greens no favor and tough, the potatoe salad no potatoes and sour, the mac and cheese don’t even have a cheese taste. The only thing was suitable was the chicken and the hawaiian roll. Oh the sweet potatoe pie was doable.

My taste buds are not your taste buds and your is not mine so I tried it and all I can say the rmajority of the reviews are spot on. I will not be going for seconds.

I have to be honest, most of the time I never order breaded shrimp. If you go to a place like Red Lobster or anywhere really “breaded” just means “frozen” or “pre packaged”. They almost never have any flavor or anything so I stay away from breaded shrimp at restaurants.

HOWEVER….

T Maries’s Soul Food has some of the most flavorful, best tasting, jumbo shrimp I have ever had. The dinner I just ordered came with 8 very large shrimp. Every one was breaded differently which means they were hand battered at the restaurant. I didn’t even know breaded shrimp could taste this good.

My dinner came with macNcheese & greens. I had never had collard greens before. It cost just as much as anywhere else about $16. That’s no different that the 12 pizza’s they are selling next door.

I have lived by this place since it opened and always passed by it. Never again, i’m going to try to eat here once a week. My sister who wanted burgerking was mad that I got great dinner and she had fast food.

Thanks so much, you have a new loyal customer. I just finished and the first thing I did was get on here to right a review!

We were super excited to find a soul food restaurant close to home but this place is super disappointing. we ordered almost $100 worth of food. 2 entrees and about 6 desserts. my order (smothered chicken special with rice and gravy, mac & cheese, and cabbage) was horrible. the mac tasted like they cooked it with krafts singles sliced cheese, the noodles were overcooked and it was basically flavorless besides the cheese. the cabbage was undercooked and flavorless. the gravy tasted and looked old and when i poked into the chicken breast a foul odor came from it so i threw the whole plate away.

my fiancé had the rib plate with mac collard greens and yams. his plate was small even with buying 3 extra ribs for $10 his collards were bland, the yams had too much ginger to where it overpowered every other seasoning and the ribs tasted off.

my kids loved the homemade ice cream sandwiches but the banana pudding i ordered was watery and looked old. i didnt even attempt to taste it.

i definitely would not recommend this place to anyone who wants good food.

The food tasted horrible! It was a waste of $53. The potato salad looked like old molded mashed potatoes. My wife and I felt like we were on pranked. The fish wasn’t real catfish it was Swai fish. The greens taste like glory greens out the can. The yams tasted old and full of cinnamon. The kool-aid was the best thing we purchased. We wouldn’t recommend nor go back. But the facility was clean and staff was nice.

This was our first time trying this soul food kitchen so we had some questions for the order taker and she was patient enough. We ordered three dinners – fried chicken, sole, and catfish. The main entrees were cooked to order and had generous portions (3-4 medium to large pieces of fish, two very large pieces of chicken). The dinners came with your choice of two sides (premade) which were smaller portions. Both fish were crispy and quite good. I only tried a bite of the chicken but it seemed tasty too. However, the chicken came smothered in BBQ sauce without asking, fortunately I liked it but be sure to ask if you don’t want it (we also received BBQ sauce on the side???). I really like my side of “fried” cabbage (actually more like braised but very tasty with ham in it). I only had a taste of the collard greens and they were OK but I didn’t think they were as tasty as the cabbage. We also got some rolls and a piece of cornbread with our order. Be sure to check the daily specials on the blackboard as they have items not on the printed menu – on the day we went, there was gumbo, red snapper among others. On Saturdays they apparently have a seafood boil too. The restaurant and kitchen appeared clean. The food is served over the counter takeout style. Overall, I thought it was a good value and satisfying.
