My boss recommended this place, and tokens be honest it might be the worst experience I’ve had at a mexican restaurant. Let’s start with the positive, the margaritas where phenomenal. Now to the negatives, the server charged us 20 dollar for each 27 ounce flavored margarita. Im assuming he added the price for the unflavored to the flavored to get that number, and if that is how that is supposed to work that is crazy. The chorizo queso was so thin and watery it looked sad. The taste was exactly the same as a microwaved jimmy deans breakfast sandwich. Onto the entree, I actually thought the shrimp was decent, but the the first bite of the rice had me and my date look at each other and talk about how what we make at home is better. Their shredded beef was flavorless, it was bizarre. To sum it up, the price was absolutely outrageous (partly due to what im assuming is a bad waiter) for such mediocre food. It makes sense why there where almost more servers than customers I could spot (4 other people compare to 3 servers) on a Sunday night dinner service. Drive to Casa Agave by zestos and hobby lobby their food is way better and slightly cheaper for entrees

So glad we finally tried Sol De Mexico Bar and Grill! The food was excellent. There are a lot of great Mexican options in Fort Wayne, but honestly this was top tier. We went for lunch, and the portions were massive. I’ll definitely have 3 meals from my Burrito Verde. My son added steak to his Arroz Con Pollo, we both had drinks, and he had a large dessert with ice cream, and our bill was still under $50. Javier was our server, and he went above and beyond to check on us and also make recommendations on dishes to try at our next visit. We will definitely be regulars going forward. The place is extremely clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated without being over-the-top. They have ample regular and handicap parking, and everything inside is accessible for those with mobility issues. 10/10 recommended!

Location, food and atmosphere was amazing. This was our first trip to this place and brought our family of 6. The manager dropped by the table and brought us a sample of beef from the kitchen while we were snacking on chips. We got the fajitas for two and it was more than enough! Well done!

I ate lunch here for the first time today. OMG! It was fantastic! The tortilla chips are served warm (which I love) and the salsa was fresh and had really good flavor with just enough heat! For lunch I ordered the chicken fajitas. They came to the table sizzling and were served with 3 warm tortillas and a generous plate of shredded lettuce, fresh guacamole, sour cream, pico, beans, and Spanish rice. The fajitas were absolutely delicious with grilled onions, peppers, and tomatoes. The menu was extensive with lots of choices in every category. The service was friendly, attentive, and helpful. I had previously always gone to another popular Mexican restaurant, but Sol de Mexico Bar & Grill is exceptional! It is located in the strip mall across the drive from Cracker Barrel. I will definitely be back very soon!
I returned again for lunch today, 6/2/25, and was disappointed that the chips were not served warm. The salsa was excellent, as usual. I was also disappointed that my chicken fajita skillet was not sizzling when it was brought to the table. I don’t know if today was just an off day for staff or if they were understaffed or untrained. I hope these issues will be resolved the next time I return.

Javier was our waiter today. He was amazing. Poured my fiance beer for him multiple times too. The birria tacos were amazing and everything was priced so good.

We have a wonderful experience with the best service. My husband got the birria tacos and they were absolutely amazing. I had a shrimp chimichanga and it was also amazing! We’ll definitely go back.

Tonight was the 2nd time that we’ve ate here and the 2nd time we’ve had great service and our food has been delicious! My husband ordered the aroz con pollo and loved it, the rice was cooked all the way and their queso was just the way he likes it. I ordered chorizo street tacos and man….YUMMY! And the guacamole is made fresh at order and so good!

Spacious Mexican restaurant with a large bar, TVs to watch the game. Cash & credit card payments accepted. Full bar (wine, beer, cocktails). Reasonable selection of mid-range liquors to handle most needs.

Tucked away in a small strip mall it would be easy to miss this place if you weren’t looking for it, which I was. Upon finding it and reviewing the menu I was prepared for some average Mexican American food. All the typical dishes are there – chimichangas, burritos, enchiladas, etc. However there were a few things that merited a bump up on the overall rating.

Service was quick and friendly. The owner or manager came over to check on me and we chatted a little bit. They weren’t bothersome but I felt welcomed and appreciated.

Basic salsa and chips are forgettable, but I asked for something spicier and that’s where the interesting stuff started. My waitress brought out a small bowl of what looked like an overly-wet bean dip. But it was clearly not bean dip. There was a latent heat to it that hits not in the mouth so much as in the gut. Not enough to be unpleasant (at least for me), but enough to be noticeable. Curious.

I asked the manager about it and he assured me they make their own. A mix of jalapenos and other chilis, onions, and garlic. But I’d love to watch them make it so I can see how they end up with the consistency and color of bean dip. Regardless, it was very enjoyable.

At first I thought they didn’t have tacos and that was a worrisome thing to me. However a closer review of the menu showed me they have a street taco dinner plate – three soft tacos with your choice of meat, plus rice and beans. The rice and beans are forgettable. But the tacos were very good. I opted for steak and it was very tender, flavorful, and plentiful. Dusted with diced onions and cilantro along with some lime pieces, it was delicious.

I appreciate the little touches that move this place above average, and hope they keep up their good work both in making customers welcome as well as providing them some unusual but delicious options for their meals

Very, very authentic Mexican food. They’ve put a lot of work into their dining room as well as their menu. The server was very helpful in assisting us in choices on the menu. The drinks also were excellent. I wish them much success.

We had a great dinner at Sol De Mexico!!
The place was recommended by the staff at our hotel which is nearby. Sol De Mexico did not disappoint!
The salsa has a great flavor, warning- it’s a bit spicy. The cheese dip has a great flavor too. Their chips are very thick, we loved them.
Portions are large, the staff is friendly, and the place is clean.
We had the enchiladas, and all were great! I don’t usually get enchilada sauce and opt for cheese sauce instead. I forgot and it came with enchilada sauce. It was the best I’ve had. It, paired with the chicken, cheese, and beef in the enchiladas was soooo good!
We also had a combo w/ a taco, enchilada, and a tamale. Again, all great!
I highly recommend a visit and would return for sure.
