Tried this restaurant because my Chinese friend recommended that it’s a hidden little gem in Monterey Park and it’s price is cheap. I don’t think it can be considered cheap. The price was higher than a few “normal price” places I ate, but the food was definitely very delicious. They welcomed guests until the closing time which we really appreciated. The eggplant pot was exceptionally good. I would go for that dish alone!

They say people from Hunan province don’t fear spicy food. I ordered stir fried tripe and bamboo shoots. Mild was spicy enough. Food was great, and I would come again.

This is a restaurant that serves authentic Hunan cuisine. Hunan cuisine is also known for being spicy but uses lots of fresh peppers. The owner is from the province.

We two people ordered Chinese smoked pork stir fried with dry tofu, and stir fried beef.

The dishes go perfect with rice. The average price is ~30 per person.

I’d def come again next time I want Hunan food.

Hi guys, if you are looking for the best authentic Hunan dishes, you should come here and you won’t be disappointed…. Best Chinese spicy food in California~ BTW, the chef-owner worked in Huatian which is the most famous five-star-hotel in Hunan.

Pretty authentic Hunan Chinese restaurant. Smoked pork dishes taste just like the ones in Hunan. The cauliflower dish was also spicy and flavorful. The fresh ingredients really made a difference in taste and crispness in the veggies. Even better would be Hunan Chili King

Edit- My second time eating here today was as good as my first visit if not better. I ordered steamed fish soup with mild spiciness, and it was quite spicy. A sure sign of authenticity. The best Chinese food I have ever had. My waitress was very respectful and made sure I had everything I needed. Cannot wait to come back. –

I stopped here for lunch while passing through the area. Pork soup was very good. I ordered to go and appreciated the care put into packaging my food so it did not spill or burn me on the ride home. The lady who took my order was very courteous and took time to make sure she understood what I wanted. I would recommend this place, would come back if it weren’t so far away. Hopefully some day!

Just an average Hunan restaurant. We ordered chicken with pepper and pork tripe. They all look pretty. The pork tripe is a little bit fishy even for Chinese. Their rice is paid $1.5 per person although they will give you a big bowel of rice no matter how many person come, which is ridiculous.

If you like authentic Human spicy food, this plane is for you. I’ve been enjoying this restaurant for many years.

Last time they said that they have a new owner, but the food is still great.

This place is tucked into a small plaza right next to the Courtyard Marriott hotel. We went here twice in three days. We were a little skeptical at first because of the review but the food is superb and is traditional spicy Hunan cuisine. If it matters to you – no MSG used in the dishes, you can tell. We had stir fried cauliflower, diced frog, pickled green beans with minced pork, stewed red chili tofu, all were tremendous. Portions are good and not stingy.

You ever seen those videos on youtube where they’re like:

“If the place got 3.5 stars, it’s got really good food?”

Yah same story here. Outrageously amazing food. The new chef worked 20 years at a five star restaurant in China and you can definitely tell in the way he cooks and presents the food. Everything’s got Wok Hei and it’s spicy without overwhelming the other flavors at work and you can definitely tell they got a good chili plug

Must haves:
Egg with Chilis
Pork intestines
Stir fried beef with chilis
Eggplant with century egg

I ain’t had food like this since I went to Hunan and you know you in the right place cause they had a table of OGs killin a plate of the chopped chilis whole fish and chatting it up.

If you want to eat food as close to actual Hunan as you can get, pull up now.
