TOP TEIR CHINESE FOOD! We had takeout earlier in the week and then ate in a few days later because we could not believe how fire this food was. It elevates any corner Chinese place you’ve ever ate. I would say this is about as authentic as it gets for Chinese food. It was super cold in the restaurant but it comes with the territory. We will be back for sure

This is actually better than most Chinese places. For one, it has seating inside. For two, it looks a lot nicer and more modern inside. Three, it has a mix of authentic Chinese and Chinese American. If you don’t like it here, you also have Junzi Kitchen across the street, which is also really good. My order was ginger beef (they ended up giving me chicken, which I actually prefer), boneless spare ribs, and white rice. Overall it’s really good, definitely recommend!

This place has a welcoming vibe with simple yet pleasant decor. I enjoyed the concept, and the staff seemed friendly upon arrival. However, the food left mixed impressions. The mapo tofu was unexpectedly different—lacking the signature spice and depth that typically define the dish. Their version of this dish wasn’t bad, but it didn’t quite win me over either. The eggplant dish was a bigger issue; despite ordering it vegetarian, it came with pork twice before finally arriving correctly, almost by the time dessert was served. The bao had a decent flavor, though the skin wasn’t as soft as I prefer. Overall, a nice spot with room for improvement.

Sesame chicken was good and the boneless pork ribs and from what I could eat of the vegetable lo-mein with beef added was good. So why 2 stars? Because what I couldn’t eat was the noodles from the lo-mein. There wasn’t any noodles. This place wasn’t busy and it wasn’t some huge order. Just 2 lo-meins with beef, 2 sesame chicken, and boneless pork ribs. I mean, lo-mein is even in the name so to forget an ingredient so vital to the make-up of the meal is unforgivable even if all the rest is outstanding.

I don’t have the receipt but we ordered like 11am yesterday. I, Blue sweater and courdoroy pants, and my teenager son. We were visiting colleges for my daughter so we won’t be back since it’s couple states away but thanks for replying.

I called in my order and went to pick it up. Everyone was very nice. The food was quick and ready when I walked in and the bill was very reasonable. I got home and saw the actual portions and was pleasantly surprised. The amount of food I got for the prices is fantastic. The food was delicious. I got the sweet and sour pork and loved it. When I have more time I want to go dine in but either way I will be eating here again

Really good food. And it is the traditional Chinese food. Have a lot of choice out of broccoli and beef .

If you want to taste the Chinese food Chinese people will eat, please go there.

And the food is very healthy. Good for me .

The spicy tofu is very good.

If you’re hunting for comfort food that hits every nostalgic note without wrecking your wallet, Nice Day Chinese is the spot. The pickup service is fast and smooth—perfect for when you’re craving legit Chinese food without the wait.

The food? Absolute fire. The braised pork glass noodles were rich, savory, and full of umami goodness. The xiao long bao (soup dumplings) had that perfect burst of broth and a silky wrapper. And the hot and sour soup? Thick, bold, and loaded with mushrooms and tofu like it actually wants to fill you up.

Everything tasted homemade, but in that “my mom has a Michelin star” kind of way. Affordable, delicious, convenient—what more do you want?

Highly recommend. It really is a nice day every time I eat here.

They also open quite late.

Came on Aug 22 on their first day opening and it was amazing! Had the soup dumplings which was good. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Wishing the restaurant all the best! I can tell it will be a campus favorite. There were already people dining in and online orders which is great for a first day. I look forward to trying more meals!

This Chinese food is outstanding. The flavors are bold and fresh. The ginger beef is incredible, and the General Tso’s is delicious (I remove the fries, but I’m sure it’s just as good with them. I just don’t need the extra calories ). The food itself is fantastic, and the service is excellent. Big chef’s kiss. Thank you.

Whitney Ave was dead. Taquerias dark. Ramen spots shut. Even the pizza joints that “never close” were closed. I ducked into Nice Day because the lights were on and I needed fuel.

New Haven’s been missing reliable Chinese since the old guard vanished. Nice Day is clearly angling for that spot … just with a faster playbook. Inside is loud. Tile floors. Hard ceilings. A disco ball literally nobody asked for. On a snowy Sunday, it was packed with every Yale kid hiding from the mounting slush.

Ordered the rubbery beef + broccoli. Eight minutes flat.

The beef had actual jaw defining chew to it, not that velveted mush you get elsewhere, and the broccoli still snapped. Sweet sauce was familiar without being real heavy. Didn’t even touch the chili oil. Didn’t need to.

Yeah, nearly $20 stings for takeout. But if you’re watching them macros and want cleanish protein without the MSG fog? The math works. You’re paying for speed, fresh ingredients, and a meal that doesn’t sit like a brick.

Girl at the register smiled like she meant it. Walked back out into the snow and the warmth died fast. But that’s life.

Nice Day delivers the promise. Nothing more. Nothing less.
