Resort food is always expensive, but it is usually a decent portion and good enough. The Whistlestop Cafe offers neither portions large enough for adults nor food the quality of which is nearly commensurate with their exorbitant prices.
The menu has three options: for $13, you can purchase a 6 oz soup without a side. For $14, you can purchase a chili frito pie. Or for $12, you can purchase a grilled cheese on white bread with only, apparently, two slices of american cheese.
None of the Whistlestop Cafe’s options are large enough for a meal on their own, but they are all priced nearly as much.
Overall, the Whistlestop Cafe serves poor quality food at prices suggesting something at least a little better, even for a resort. I’d have been happy to pay $25 for a meal suitably sized and of higher quality. The Whistlestop Cafe does not offer this.
