Had such a lovely evening at Long Friday!
The service was honestly amazing, everyone was so friendly and attentive. The hake was cooked perfectly and tasted incredible. All the food was absolutely to die for right through to the desserts. Such a cosy, intimate spot and perfect for a date night out. Honestly, it’s the best meal I’ve had in Newcastle and I already can’t wait to go back!

Recent winner of GFG Best North East Restaurant and deserved entirely. Great interior, lovely staff and brilliant food.
Late sitting booking but getting us to a table 20 minutes early wasn’t a problem. Relaxed and knowledgeable server dealt with gluten intolerance questions easily. Both food and drinks menus were well thought through. Highlights were the Hake with Bloody Mary sauce, famous deep fried sage leaves and superb basque cheesecake. A mid-week dinner saw full tables creating a warm buzz in the room with a lot of chatter focused on the plates of food coming out the kitchen.
Highly recommended!

Intimate and stylish. Large wine selection. Higher prices for bottles, but also high quality assortment. Lots of options by the glass. THE FOOD. The food was incredible. Order the tempura leek. My god! The belly pork was also just incredible. Just go & enjoy!

The service and food were amazing. Everyone on the table agreed it’s the best food we’ve had in a long time and the staff were very attentive and helpful throughout – unfortunately I forgot to ask the name of the man behind the bar but he was brilliant! He let us try wines and was very knowledgeable offering us good recommendations throughout and even gave my mother a free glass of fizz for her birthday. On top of this, the food was all delicious and I couldn’t fault any of it. Couldn’t recommend more!

Love this place. Banging wine list and some incredible food. Love the range of premium and affordable drinks, from £5 to £25 so fine if you’re on a budget but great if you want to splash out. Food highlights were fried chicken, steak, mussels, dry fried sage and to be honest all of it – really loved the gooseberry stuff under the sardines too that was news on me! Lovely space with a great atmosphere and top staff. They were also super accommodation about my inconvenient chilli intolerance which I appreciated. 10/10

If you looking for exceptional food and great service this is the place for you. Wow, what an amazing experience. Food was out of this world, with staff knowledge second to none. Fantastic choice of wine and extremely tasty nonalcoholic drinks to choose from too, all made in house .

Got a voucher, and decided to take family for a meal here. Absolutely incredible- with a great wine list, creative menu and lovely service. Unusually, the veg options equally as good as the non veg! The cauliflower was amazing. Couldn’t recommend enough, cozy atmosphere and some of the best food I’ve had!

An incredible find in the heart of Newcastle. A small cozy restaurant with an absolutely wonderful menu. Wine selection is simply top notch. The service is prompt and excellent. Arguably the best mid-tier(£) restaurant in Newcastle. And for those of you who know Cook house, expect nothing less from Long Friday.
