Reviews
I am surprised at any +ve reviews about this restaurant. They might be from family and friends or may be paid ones. We went today at around 12:10 PM. Somebody told us that some party is going on, so please go to the 3970B hall. It was more of a living room of some house rather than some restaurant. Nobody(server or waiter) was there to offer seat to any guests. You need to get seated on your own.
Now coming to the food – we are vegetarian so we can’t comment about two options for non vegetarians(Chicken etc..) but Vegetarian food was horrible and very limited choices. Bhelpoori was there but chutney was at least 2-3 weeks stale. There were no plates-many a times – guests have to request plates from the servers. Servers were very much clueless and unfriendly people – I don’t think they were getting paid at all. In appetizers – they had potato and some other bhajji which were bad in taste. I don’t know why there was any sambhar provided(to eat with what). Interestingly sambhar and navratan korma had the same set of frozen vegetable choices. There was plain rice to eat with black dal(at least a week old). Then there was okra(bhindi) saag(not the dry one but with the gravy)-very yucky. And that’s all was there in that restaurant to eat. Everything to eat was available on 12 feet table space – so one can imagine the quality and the options.
If google allows me to upload some photos – I can upload my receipt(check # 13292, Date 12/21/2013, Time : 12:45 PM, server Vijay and Table 50). They are charging $11.99 per adult buffet and $7.99 for kid buffet. Ideally they should close this restaurant(yes, that’s what I have written on the merchant copy) or at the most charge $1.99 per adult.
Stay away from this restaurant. It’s good that it’s isolated and difficult to find…only when you are desperate(after finding it for quite some time as there are no other indian restaurants in the next 10 minutes drive) and hungry – you will go there.
In US during the last 13 years – I have found only two other indian restaurants as bad as this 1) Shah Taj Sweets And Restaurant(287 Grove St Jersey City, NJ 07302 near Grove St Path Station at Jersey City) 2) Raja Bhaiya – route 4E near Hackensack NJ(it’s closed now).
Both India House(Schaumburg, IL) and Gaylord(Schaumburg, IL) are far better. Please don’t be lazy-drive till there…no need to spoil your mood and stomach by visiting this restaurant. By far my number one indian restaurant is Chand Palace, Piscataway, NJ.
Shame on you “Urban Tandoor” folks – why you are destroying the reputation of Indian food in USA?
