My partner and I were walking to a cafe for breakfast but were derailed by the delicious smells wafting from Sam’s sub shop like cartoon characters following a scent trail. 20 minute wait because this place is popular but that was no problem at all for us. I got the cheesesteak with mushrooms and fried onions and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. Generous portions, reasonable price and everyone working at Sam’s was so friendly and nice. Sam’s really feels like a local hot spot. My partner got the large hamburger (which comes on a sub roll too) and it was good, but we both agreed that my cheesesteak was superior. Sam’s had a ton of chips options (yay Herr’s). Easy to understand how they’ve managed to stick around for 75 years. I’ll definitely be back!

I definitely recommend takeout for Sam’s- it’s a little hole in the wall joint with one table, but there’s a cute little bench right outside.

Picked up an hour ago. Incredible cheesesteak. Honestly, better than the steaks in Philly.
Soft roll- but not too soft where it gets wet. Meat is perfectly seasoned and chopped (but not over chopped). Cooper sharp and onion on the steak- mushroom/banana peppers on the side is the pro move (so it doesn’t get soggy).
Can’t wait to come back.

My wife and I stopped in for a couple of their breakfast subs. We got the sausage, egg, and cheese with fried onions and a Taylor pork roll, egg, and cheese with fried onions. Subs are a little over 12” long and are fairly priced. Bread quality is fantastic, eggs were perfectly cooked, cheese was melty-good, and meats were flavorful and plentiful!

Service was impeccable, people were friendly and inviting. They treat you like the neighbor you are here. Kennett really has something special with Sam’s.

Good little spot for a quick lunch pickup. No indoor seating available. Had a turkey, American cheese, with bacon sub. Lettuce, tomatoes and onions were nice and fresh. The bread was a wonderful melding of crispiness outside and soft inside. Coupled with a diet Stewart’s root beer and a nearby park made for a great lunch. Great history to the shop. Free parking out front. The folks working here were kind and patient. Thanks for a delicious lunch that hit the spot while hiking the area. Definitely a go to place.

Excellent cheesesteaks! Tiny little sub shop with all you need for lunch. There are only two seats at a high top table and a bench in the window, so plan to take your food to go. We crossed the street and ate outside on the rooftop patio of the Kennett Square Public Library on a beautiful autumn day.

I was born in ’55, we lived way out on Walnut Rd, amidst all the fields and mushroom houses. We would still drive “in to town” for our favorite and best hoagies and cheese steaks; and Sam would make ’em. I would “kill” to have one right now. Go enjoy a Kennett Square original! Long live SSS!

Sam’s Sub Shop is hands down one of the best spots for a quick and delicious sub in Kennett Square! The subs are packed with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the bread is always the perfect balance of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The service is quick and friendly, making it easy to grab lunch on the go. It’s definitely a local favorite, and it’s clear why. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a consistently great sub experience!

Old School South Philly Deli without going to South Philly. I think Kennett Square can completely fulfill a Center City transplants food needs. Sam’s opens at 6:30 and closes at 3. Cash only. A very good small plate Kennett Square’esque cheesesteak in an old school sandwich shop complete with a table for four right in the middle of the patron area. I learned from the two Old-Timers I sat with that Sam’s daughter and her husband run the place and the HS football team is looking good this year. Sam came back from WW2 and opened Sam’s sub shop in 1946. This was a very good cheese steak. The mushrooms and onion spent some quality time together on the grill. Everyone’s going to give me a hard time and say I only care about size but ‘come on man’ look at the pictures this Cheesesteak needed more meat. Overall very good cheesesteak experience. $9.75 stung a bit.

I have been coming here for years. Still the great quality as when I was younger. 10/10 the bread was phenomenal. The sandwiches are always made so well. There’s a reason they have been in business for so many years. Just a heads up Cash Only for people who have never been. I will keep coming back and when you stop in get the Italian sub with prosciutto! Great prices and fast service. Keep up the great work Sam’s!
