Jan-YUM-ary #5 – Chef Daddy – St. Charles Rock Rd
This place has been on my todo list for some time. Finally got done and DAMN!!!
Carfish fillets were seasoned and cooked golden, corn and greens beans on the side with that. Plus the rib tips with baked mac and Mississippi greens. The best things in these boxes by far is the mac n cheese. Somebody might fight you over that, ok let’s stop joking. Im somebody and yes i will fight you over this mac n cheese. I thinks its the only mac n cheese better than mine!!! And i use 7 cheeses. Cant decide if i like the greens or the green beans more. The green beans were seasoned more but the mix of greens and cabbage has a surprising satisfaction. As far as the cornbread i took a bite and put that back down. I dont know why that doesn’t match the other menu items in delishiousness but yea…i need to figure out who made this mac n cheese tho cuz i got questions!!!!
Side Note: i kinda felt like i was cheating on Big Jays being that close also…

Clean, friendly, reasonably priced, and DELICIOUS. All of the food we ordered was spectacular. However, I have to say that the greens were the best we’ve ever had. Don’t forget about the desert. Be sure to ask about the peach cobbler.

I was taken to this establishment as a gift for my birthday last month and I’ve been hooked ever since! It’s in close proximity to where I live which was a pleasant surprise and the food tasted like I would have cooked it myself, that’s how good and authentic it tasted. Every item I have tried has been delicious!!! I have been back at several times a week since I 1st came here. For a real down home soul food meal, Chef Daddy’s is the place.

First and LAST time ever coming here! Was craving ox tail so I got one from here. REGRET! First off, my husband ordered a 3 piece wing and they literally sent ONE wing! As for my food, the northern beans were great, the greens were ok when I added hot sauce, but these ox tails are diabolical. Not appealing to the eye, no seasoning, no sauce, NO FLAVOR! DO NOT COME HERE!

Love the atmosphere of this place! You can sit down and eat dinner and listen to music. This place is nice..now..the food..im from the south so the seasoning was not to my liking. I had bought the bean and peas mix and it tasted like the was cooked in orka juice!! I do not like that when i was a kid and my grandma would could the beans peas with orka..uuggghhh..but the meat (I CAN’T REMEMBER THE MEAT I BOUGHT) but it was good..I will be going back. I want to try them hog malls they sale there.

We went here for my sister’s birthday. It was about 15 of us. The kitchen staff was super friendly and the front house staff was nice as well except for one lady.
The food was decent. We had the wings, pork chops, oxtails, and spare ribs (seemed more like roast). The meat was good but the fried food was kind of salty.
The sides are fire….the greens, cabbage, Mac n cheese, green beans…all delicious.
The portion sizes were on point too.
The staff was helpful and even gave us a knife to cut the birthday cake.
I would go back for takeout.

The food is delicious! The day I went in the air conditioner was broken but they made up for that in the food! I will.have to come back for sure. They do have indoor dining but it was too hot to eat inside that day so we ordered take out.

I’m a person that wants soul food everyday, which is a hard request in STL. Most restaurants serve soul food only on Sundays. While the food was good, it wasn’t that heavily seasoned southern soul food taste. The macaroni didn’t have any pepper, and the sweet potatoes lacked flavor, the greens didn’t seam to have any seasoning at all, just the flavor from the turkey. Every dish needed more flavor, EXCEPT the pork chop, it was seasoned and fried to perfection. I’d go back for that pork chop every week. The smothered chicken was good, but I’m not sure if that fried fish was actually catfish The cornbread also needed some sugar, and doesn’t have to be Jiffy sweet but at least add a pinch or two. They’ll see me again because I prefer home cooked over fast crap. The desserts were also tasty. Try the banana pudding cake. The inside was also nice, clean and welcoming, and they have a bar!
