I recently discovered Gio Cucina Napoletana in Encino and I can confidently say this is a true hidden gem.
This is a family-owned Italian restaurant where everything is made the right way — house-made pasta and sauces prepared fresh daily. You can genuinely taste the difference. The texture of the pasta, the balance of the sauces, and the overall craftsmanship stand out immediately.
We started with warm bread and olive tapenade, which set the tone beautifully. I had the Olmo’s Pappardelle (named after LA legend Edward James Olmos), and also tried their whole wheat fettuccine — both were fresh, well-balanced, and thoughtfully prepared.
To finish, I had their sorbet, which was light and refreshing — the perfect ending.
I also appreciate that they offer gluten-free noodles and vegan-friendly options, which makes the experience inclusive without sacrificing quality.
Whether you’re planning a date night, birthday dinner, or just looking to support a restaurant that truly cares about what they serve, Gio Cucina Napoletana is worth visiting.
Encino is lucky to have this spot.

In the restaurant it felt so welcoming, the food was so amazing and I was shocked how much I enjoyed the pumpkin ravioli because I’m not really a pumpkin fan! What impressed me was how caramelized the chicken ravioli was because I honestly couldn’t tell if it was chicken! I would definitely come back here again and try their other services like the wine tasting!

An amazing family run restaurant that oozes with love. If you want authentic Italian made by people who truly care, go here!!
All the pasta is homemade. 7 types of ravioli. Everything we had including the PIZZA was amazing. Truly blown away by this 2nd floor strip mall gem!! Can’t wait to return.
Some of the best most attentive service I’ve had in a while.

Absolutely delicious! Every dish we had was delectable- the pumpkin tortellini and the gnocchi in particular were phenomenal. They make their pastas in house and it shows! This is a small family run restaurant and they run it with care and joy- excellent service and such a warm and charming space. We will absolutely be back- both to eat and to take one of their cooking classes. So glad we found this gem. 🙂

The BEST Italian place I have ever been to in the states!! We had an absolutely incredible time! The restaurant is family owned, and they make you feel like you’re a part of that family from the moment you walk up the stairs. Everyone is so kind, attentive, and personal. The atmosphere outside was perfect, and the food was incredible! Every one of us got something different, and it was all amazing. I couldn’t recommend this place enough, and we will most definitely be back every time we visit the LA area!

Love the food here and I’ve been coming for over a year. Came here with my boyfriend and we were there for over an hour because we weren’t getting served. Everyone else in the restaurant was getting constantly asked if they were good and getting water refills. Upset, I don’t think I will be coming back because of the service. To be fair it was a Saturday night. I don’t wanna make this about race but we were the only brown people there and one of the waiters say Latinos don’t really come here. He seemed nice I just found that odd.

this charming family owned restaurant in a strip mall has some of the best homemade pasta I’ve had this year. My favorite item had to be the trio of ravioli, and of their many options, I chose the shrimp and lobster, porcini mushroom, and pumpkin ravioli.
The service was fantastic, and even on a weeknight, the restaurant was busy with returning locals.

I saw this place advertised on TV one night a few months ago. Finally got around to having dinner. All the dishes sound awesome, especially when the waiter runs them down to you. The flavor was bland and the food seemed to be average with an attempt to dress it up with sauces.

Okay wow! This restaurant is so delicious and has such a relaxing atmosphere. The service is top of the line! Everyone working here is professional, helpful, friendly, and knows the menu by heart. The owner is the chef, which is evident by how flavorful, fresh, and authentic everything is. There is a pretty wide selection of food & wine, and they have different specials that are not on the menu that sound amazing. The bread and olive tapenade that they bring out is so fresh, the rolls are hot and just perfect. For appetizers, we ordered the Burrata con Pera, which is pears, cheese, honey, sea salt, and balsamic–it was truly fantastic. We also had the Tris Di Zuppe, which is a sampler of three different puree soups (roasted tomato, broccoli, and rapini aka Italian Broccoli) and they came with garlic bread–all three were delicious and so fresh. For dinner we had the Pinsa Rustica, which is a similar dough to pizza, but has a nicer taste, and it came with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, arugula and prosciutto on it–very tasty and fresh. We also ordered the Papardelle con Ragu Di Pollo e Porcini, which has wide noodles in a delicious chicken meat sauce with mushrooms–it was very good. For dessert we had the Crème Brûlée and the Chocolate Soufflé. Both were decadent and had a perfect sweetness; the Chocolate Soufflé is creamy and gooey in the center and comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and the Crème Brûlée was the best I’ve ever had. We finished off dinner with a shot of their homemade Limoncello, which leaves a delightful taste on your palate and a nice warm feeling. Again, I cannot emphasize how amazing and attentive the servers are–they take the whole experience over the top. I will definitely be back here 🙂

It was our first time here and we can’t wait to go back. All the pastas are freshly made and incredible. Parking is easy and we sat outside on a warm summer night which was delightful. The owner was so welcoming and enthusiastic and offered a great Italian wine which was reasonably priced and delicious. The salads are huge and the burrata wonderful. I also had the chicken Piccata which was moist and really special. Save room for the deserts which equally great and a nice way to end the perfect Italian dinner.
