I was in this area of Oceanside in the valley and was looking for ice cream. Upon recommendations, I came across Ocean Rainbow ice cream parlor.
Remotely hidden in the back of the shopping plaza on El Camino Real & Mission Ave, is this gem of a small ice cream shop, Ocean Rainbow.
One could easily drive right past them because of their small signage on the exterior.
The shop is very small and see maybe 10 people.
Yeah, very friendly service that is excellent and fast to greet and offer a free sample.
This ice cream shop has a very large variety of flavors that are native to Mexican culture.
They have ice cream scoops, milkshakes, water-based popsicles, sherbets, sundaes, chamango, banana splits, icicles, elotes, esquites, Tostilocos, popsicles, shaved ice and a whole lot more.
You can find flavors like guava, rice, pistachio, coconut, Oreo, cookie dough, rocky road, mango, mamey, cactus fruit, pine nut, MAZAPAN, chamoy, tamarindo, burnt milk, Gansito and even tequila.
Prices are very reasonable and I got a 3-scoop chocolate waffle cone for $8.
They also have fresh-made aguas frescas that are made to-order and esquimales too!
I highly recommend checking this spot out the next time you have a sweet tooth!

I just had to share this delightful experience I had this past Wednesday. After dropping off my dry-cleaning next door, I suddenly craved an ice cream cone. Given the hot afternoon, it turned out to be the perfect choice, and I am thrilled I picked the right place!
A wonderful woman at the shop made me a one-scoop vanilla waffle cone, and it was absolutely terrific! She even took the time to educate me on why the vanilla was yellow; turns out it was Mexican vanilla, and let me tell you, it was the best vanilla ice cream I have ever had. The waffle cone was fresh, and the ice cream was simply delicious.
I can’t wait to swing by and try another flavor next time! I highly recommend giving it a try – you definitely won’t be disappointed!

If you’re looking for the best ice cream and desserts around, you’ve got to check out Ocean Rainbow! The folks there are super friendly and always make you feel welcome. But the real star of the show is their food—it’s absolutely amazing! Every time I go, I’m blown away by how good everything tastes. If you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out big time. The ice cream is so fantastic that I drive all the way from Bonsall for it. It is all handmade and you can certainly taste the difference! Also, it is extremely reasonably priced. Far less then most ice cream places.
