Have visited Swiftwater General Store on multiple occasions & have not been disappointed thus far, and don’t expect to either.
Have always been greeted by friendly, curious staff & have always received wonderful, delicious food each & every time. Be sure to check for their Specials each Thursday. Today was Hickory Smoked Pulled Pork BBQ w/White Cheddar Mac ‘n Cheese (see pics) and it was mouthwatering delicious!!
Swiftwater General Store is a true “hidden gem” in the New River Gorge, just North of the New River Gorge Bridge on Ames Heights Rd and remains on my short list of ‘must go’ places in this area, regardless of if you’re visiting or are lucky enough to live here (like me).

Can’t recommend this place enough! I’ve been to Fayetteville so many times and somehow didn’t know this place existed. When we arrived the owner was on the porch with some other folks and greeted us and told us about the chicken they had just smoked and other food options. I decided to go with the burger and it was perfect. I could tell it was cooked and assembled with care and not just thrown together. The bun was toasted perfectly! We had a nice conversation with Teddy, the owner, and he made us feel so welcome and appreciated. One of my favorite food experiences ever.

This place is great! The staff are so friendly and the food hit the spot! It was a hot one in the National Park and my husband and I were hungry after a hike. We stopped here to see what we could eat, and were so pleasantly surprised by the food quality and loved the store too! We got the hot dog deal and the burger! Both delicious. No frills but just good! We sat outside on the porch and even had a water bowl for my dog.

Stopped in and enjoyed two hot dogs, french fries and a drink. Drink. They have Coke on tap. The french fries were good and crispy and the hot dogs were made perfectly with grilled sides. Definitely two thumbs up as a place to stop and get hot dogs! Great service and friendly staff. I also got the pepperoni roll to go and it was delicious. Definitely recommend them.

We camped in the New River Gorge area for a week and this was by far my favorite meal. Not just because of the food, but the service and atmosphere is incredible! Brandi was the absolute best! We got great recommendations and my favorite new hat. Don’t even consider any other restaurant for breakfast. As the name implies, it is also a general store with ample selections of local craft beer, groceries, and camping supplies. If Swiftwater General Store isn’t on your list of places to visit while in the New River Gorge area, you’re wrong, do better.

My favorite place in the world. Delicious food, very reasonable prices, and the nicest dang people you’ve ever met. Get yourself a stack of blueberry pancakes and a coffee and take in the smells of WV on the front porch. Nothing better.

I absolutely love the General Store. Great stop North of the Bridge for any last minute items. The breakfast is amazing. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. We had Teddy cater our wedding reception and he and his team did such a wonderful job. His attention to detail was as good as the food was delicious. Several of our guests stayed at the vacation rentals Teddy offers and they loved everything about them. Thank you for everything. I highly recommend the General store.

Stopped in for breakfast on possibly the foggiest morning the gorge had ever seen. The food was awesome, coffee was hot, and it was a great place to hang out for a bit. Would highly recommend it! They’ve also got a pretty well stocked grocery!
