Croutons in my salad wrap that was supposed to have chicken. Slow time. This place takes hours to wait for a dinner on campus. Workers take breaks when they are behind. Don’t wash hands and don’t care about what they do. Can’t scoop ice cream in 30 mins either.

The food is pretty good, and there’s definitely a good variety. The chicken strips are probably the best deal you get, since for $6 you get 3 strips and a massive amount of fries (I have literally never been able to finish them all). They do get really really busy unfortunately, so food can sometimes take an hour to be served, but that’s not really their fault; so many people cram in there that there’s often standing room only, so of course it’ll take a while to serve everyone. At least there are TVs and the ice rink to entertain you while you wait. If you don’t want to wait that long, don’t go between 5 and 7 pm.

Going to keep this short and simple. The portions are small for the price, the drinks are overpriced and our food came out cold at best. Even while slow our food took around a half hour to get to us. Will not be visiting again anytime soon.

If I could rate this hell hole of an establishment a zero, I would. But, I guess 1 star will have to suffice. I am an incoming freshman and I live in a residence hall with my certified, registered service animal – a 2 year old border collie…
Keeping this in mind, I just want to give a little preface – the food here is not the best – my order is constantly botched. So often in fact, that I am starting to wonder if the employees are out to get me. I have received meat on my specifically marked meatless items (when I am a strict vegetarian), and each time that happens, without fail, I am rudely asked if the meat can be simply removed from the food. It’s not like the rest of the food has been tainted or anything, right? What if I have a severe allergy to meat? Or, are they simply disrespecting my personal beliefs?
Unfortunately, this is the least of the bewildering experiences I have had at this so-called “restaurant”.
Tonight, my friends and I were grabbing a late dinner. I was accompanied by my leashed service animal, as always. She goes wherever I go – as that is part of her job, whether that be class, grabbing meals, using the restroom, etc. – so she has clearly been to The Roost with me dozens of times – not once with any sort of issue. In fact, the customers and even employees will go out of their way to ask if she is working and whether or not they can pet my dog.
Anyways, as we were sitting down attempting to enjoy our “meal” (my pasta was given to me with Alfredo sauce instead of my originally marked choice), my dog, Bijou, barked exactly three times at the noise of chairs being loudly pushed back – and presumably the sight of a large crowd of people standing up and walking towards the door (which is where we were seated). I would like to mention that she is always with me when I am anticipating large crowds or anxiety inducing events such as. Her barking was simply an alert to me – and quite frankly a part of the service she provides me with – thus the basis of owning her.
I quickly grabbed her snout so she knew that the scenario we were in was safe for me and she immediately laid back down quietly (as she was before).
About a minute later, a woman who worked at The Roost stomped assertively over to our table and demanded that we leave – she did not ask politely or explain why right away – but made sure to tell us that dogs have never/will never be allowed at this so-called cafeteria.
As she turned around (without even giving us time to respond to her aggressively toned demand), I quickly and politely replied that Bijou is a service animal – to which she whipped back around and said something along the lines of “Okay, but we can’t have aggressive dogs here”, as Bijou calmly laid at my feet. I retorted with “She is not an aggressive animal – she would/could not be as she is a service animal.” The worker nervously, yet somehow still rudely responded with “Not aggressive…just barking…Uh..um..” To which I cut her off with “We’ll leave. Don’t worry about it.” (I only left as she was making a scene and did not want to perpetrate any further stress on my aggressive dog). We got up and ate outside the poorly staffed building.
Clearly, this worker did not know how to handle a situation like that, and therefore should not have said anything.
Legally, all one can say, when running and working at a business to which animals are not allowed in, is simply “Is this a service animal?” It is illegal to immediately ask one to leave, illegal to ask what service the animal provides, and certainly unprofessional (to say the absolute very least) to get a wild hair up ones ass and quickly make accusations and statements that are not true.
This is the first negative experience I have undergone regarding my dog since I have been at EWU.

Most people go here because they just don’t know how to make a salad. For real, if you are gonna go to a place that sells food, what in St. Henry II’s name are you doing with your life when you don’t order something made from an animal on it. Get yourself a burger, order some chicken on that bad boy and get a free bread-stick even though you didn’t order a salad or pasta or something that resembles Italian food. Oh I should mention that it does taste good and whatnot but lots of people are eating here all the time especially if you live on campus so it get’s old after a while. I think if they literally replaced the Roost with a pizza joint then we’d would be talking like I talk to the campus squirrels (those little guys are the cutest let me tell you that). Cause you can still order a salad (for all of those people that order salads at a pizza joint. I mean geez, what are you like my mom trying to tell me that vegetables are healthy and not actually a secret mind control device from the government?) AND YOU CAN GET PIZZA. THANK THE LORD CHEESUS CRUST THAT PIZZA EXISTS LET ME TELL YOU WHAT. “thats what im SAYING” – Anson Levine, 2017. 3/5 cause nobody loves walking up those steps when you are there for food not exercise.

Very slow, and once you get your food it’s usually wrong. Don’t bother asking for it to be fixed, because you’ll end up waiting even longer than you did initially.

I used to eat here quite often but now I don’t bother because the wait is extremely long even when there’s only a couple people in the restaurant and the food has gotten worse since fall quarter of college.
