We’ve stopped by here on several occasions for lunch or for a cold drink and always thought the food was good and the atmosphere is fun and welcoming. Several times over the past year, we’ve contemplated stopping by for fish on Friday and tonight we actually did. Some folks think “fish is fish” and no matter where you go, your cod will be just that – cod. Well, I’m a red meat kind of guy but the missus loves her fish so she ordered the baked cod. SHE. LOVED. IT! I even snuck a bit and must say, it was one of the best pieces of cod I’ve had! Here’s the real story though… I’ve seen Facebook posts where they say they are serving ribeye’s for $1.25 per ounce. I used to think that sounded like such a good price that it was probably a lesser cut of meat. I’m glad I never said that out loud because MY GOD…I’d need to eat those words!! I ordered a 12 oz Ribeye tonight, Medium-rare with mushrooms and I must say, it was one of the tasiest, freshest, most flavorful ribeye’s I’ve had in decades! I couldn’t get over how perfect it was. I told Gene, the owner how much I liked it and he said their steaks are fresh, never frozen hand cut and trimmed by order. This was so obvious by how amazing it was! Heck…even our tossed salads were something you’d expect at a glitzy restaurant. Fresh lettuce and tomatoes – none of that crappy “designer lettuce” or dandelions and such but just good, crisp iceburg lettuce but mixed with real bacon and LOTS of it as well as shredded cheese. You could tell the bacon was cooked onsite and not precooked or out of a freezer box. If you want a great, great meal, give this a try! The atmosphere will not scream “upscale eatery” but the food will make you think you’re in a 5-star steakhouse!

Well, all I can say is…be prepared. The guy was super nice and the food was awesome, but I felt like I invaded someone’s hunting shack. Dont get me wrong, I liked it…im just saying its rough and nit for everyone. I also bought some sensational maple syrup.

Best Friday fish fry I ever had! I had the bluegill & cod. Also, it’s one of the very few places in the area that you can get a good steak, before 4 or 5:00 PM, and any day of the week. Nice little country bar that also serves great food.
