As a patron of Fran’s Chocolates in Seattle for over 10 years—and someone who frequently places bulk orders for my business—I have a high standard for the brand. Fran’s is usually synonymous with elegance and impeccable service, but my recent visit to the Bellevue location was a significant letdown.
While I was in the area and decided to stop by, the experience was subpar compared to the flagship Seattle store:
• Service & Atmosphere: The staff seemed flustered and lacked the polished, welcoming demeanor I’ve come to expect. The seamless, high-end experience found in Seattle was missing here.
• The “Fran’s Touch”: Despite purchasing several chocolate boxes, I wasn’t offered the signature complimentary chocolate. While it’s a small gesture, it is a hallmark of the Fran’s shopping experience that makes customers feel valued—especially long-term supporters.
The Verdict: If you have the choice, stick to the Seattle location. The quality of the chocolate remains world-class, but the service in Bellevue doesn’t live up to the heritage of the brand. I’ll be taking my business back to the Seattle boutique from now on.

One of the finest and best chocolates you have get it here..my personal favorite is salted caramel. You can customize 16 pieces at $40 which is quite reasonable. Quality , taste is outstanding. It’s a must try

This is a cute little store. I came in here to get some chocolates as a gift. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and offered a sample of one of their chocolates. I accepted and it was really good. They were really helpful with getting what I wanted. A little pricey but everyone I got gifts for enjoyed them. I got a couple of the coraline bars for my nieces, a few bars for other people, and a white chocolate shaped ghost.

The quality and taste of this shop’s chocolate is great I used this shop to present chocolate gift for my wife. The Manager kindly helped me to find the combination of chocolates. I was really impressed by her kindness. Of course, my wife really loved the chocolate gift. The experience of this shop with the manger definitely made our day ❗️❗️

Hey thanks a bunch today for your service. I was going to get some drinks for my wife and her sister. Oh I arrived at 5:34pm you will understand why I mention this later. So I go in ask for these drinks and I was asked if I wanted to add whip cream and to confirm what size. All is well and normal I called my wife to ask. it is now 5:37pm and all of a sudden I’m told something about a machine not on or something like that and I stay looking because you are open till 6pm correct? And i was told they couldn’t do it as I was talking to my wife. Why didnt you tell me that when I walked in about the machine? Oh because I called my wife to confirm what size or if she wanted whipped cream? Then to top it all off some lady storms out the back saying come 5:30 or before. I got there 4 minutes late and you run out to tell me that? I bit my tongue not to respond lady. I GUESS IF YOU GO THERE YOU BETTER KNOW WHAT YOU WANT BECAUSE THEY WILL MAKE SOMETHING UP MID TRANSACTION IF YOU ARE NOT SURE OR IF YOU GO FOR SOMEONE. OH YEAH AND THERES NO PARKING AND I GOT SOAKED GOING THERE ARRIVING 4 MINUTES AFTER 5:30 JUST CLOSE AT 5:30. IF YOU READ PREVIOUS REVIEWS I GUESS THEY ARE LIKE THIS.HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE TREATMENT OF THE CUSTOMERS.

Very disappointed with how I was treated here.
I was just walking by, and saw the Fran’s sign, so I decided to go in and check it out. When I arrived, there was one male customer being helped and another male customer just walking in. The guy that walked in was offered a chocolate sample right away.
I was waiting for the customers to finish so I can take a closer look at the display. One of the ladies behind the counter said to me “Do you want to make a box?” in a cold tone. I let her know that I’m not sure yet because I want to take a look at the display first. she didn’t offer me a sample or didn’t walk up to me and offer help.
I started choosing my chocolates (with another staff member) and I noticed 2 more male customers come in and the staff member left the counter and approached both gentlemen and offered them a sample right away and was so helpful towards them. Another gentleman comes in through the door and she offers him a sample right away. I stated a couple times to the staff who was helping me that it’s my first time at Fran’s and not once did he offer a sample either.
I ended up asking the lady who was offering everyone else a sample “can I have a sample please?” She was like “…. sure this is the oolong tea truffle. enjoy.” She did not say this in a friendly manner compared to all the other customers she approached.
I know I’m not the first customer who has received this type of service because I read one similar to my experience. It was very obvious that they favour different types of customers. The lady was very cold towards me, and very friendly to the other customers. I wish i didn’t spend $40 here only to receive this type of service.

Every year I make a trip to Seattle and seek out one of the Fran’s locations. Their caramel sauce is one of the BEST I have found and I always make an effort to bring it back home with me if I have a checked bag. If not, their sea salt caramels are a must along with their chocolate bars. Making an in-store visit is great because they always have a sample of something for you to try which makes the experience that much more enjoyable. I’ll keep coming back to Fran’s every time I’m back!
