Really clean, cozy spot. Staff was friendly and the menu was extensive.
Started with the signature rainbow roll which was really fresh. I tried two of the ramens and they were very good but the broth needs more flavor. Both were on the blander side.
Still worth giving it a try.

Otaka Sushi & Ramen is a fantastic find! The location is great, the staff are friendly and efficient, and the food is absolutely outstanding. Their extensive menu offers a wide range of delicious options, making it easy for everyone to find something they’ll love.
We especially enjoy their special rolls, particularly the no-rice versions—perfect for those looking for something lighter or more traditional. Having lived in Tokyo for two years, we appreciate that maki rolls aren’t typically the highlight in Japan, but Otaka’s takes are thoughtful and flavorful. I highly recommend: the Sweetheart Roll, the Spicy Tuna Naruto, the Yellowtail Scallion roll and the Caterpillar Roll, each one was fresh, balanced, and beautifully presented.
For those not into sushi, their ramen is a solid and satisfying option, making this an ideal place for groups with diverse tastes.

The Ichi spicy ramen is really good, the pork melt in the mouth while spicy soup mix perfectly together. The bathroom is very clean as well.

A Review from a Sashimi Lover! I happened to be in town on a Saturday night, and a friend recommended this sushi restaurant. We decided to give it a try, and I’m so glad we did! We ordered two Sashimi dinners, beef negimaki, shrimp tempura appetizer, the chef’s recommeded mixed fish special and fried ice cream—and we devoured everything! The fish was incredibly fresh, and the food was simply amazing. The servers were attentive and friendly, and the food arrived quickly. I also loved the beautiful presentation of each dish. Parking was easy to find, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The prices are extremely reasonable, especially considering the high quality of the food. It’s hard to find a place that offers such exceptional value. We left the restaurant feeling full and satisfied. I only wish they had a second location in Philly so I could visit more often! I’ll definitely be back soon!

I do not live locally but travel to this area for work quite a bit (1-2 times per month) and I always make sure to stop into Otaka. The sushi and other offerings are always so fresh and delicious. Highly recommend the gyoza, avocado salad (ginger dressing is perfect), any sashimi, and the maki rolls. Wonderful service, always very welcoming and quick to get the food out to you!

Otaka has the freshest selection of fish and their food is amazing. I highly recommend their dine-in special Oyster shots. I will be dreaming of those back in Toronto. This was definitely the highlight of my Penn trip. I will be back! The staff were also so attentive and sweet. Exceptional service. I would leave 10 stars if I could.

The food here is absolutely fantastic! Not only is there a ton to choose from on the menu, but the quality of the ingredients and the attention to detail to make each dish perfect makes this restaurant a clear stand out. The dining room is beautifully designed, the chairs at the sushi bar make for an elegant touch, service is extremely nice, fast, and takeout is also offered. Accessibility is good with a first floor no stair entrance/exit and tables that can accommodate a wheelchair. All in all a brilliant addition to Newtown Square and I highly recommend you check them out.

This has been a wonderful dining experience all around. The freshest fish I’ve had in a very long time. Extremely high quality. The spicy ramen had such a great mouthfeel and well rounded flavors. It was comforting and delicious. My server for the night, Brett, was very hospitable and made my experience even more over the top.
The restaurant is brand new and perfectly clean. It’s in a new and up and coming area.
I would recommend this place to anyone and I will certainly return.
