Good Value
Food was mid
Dessert section was underwhelming
✨ Excellent Service
Crabs were tiny
Fresh sushi was nice
Mongolian BBQ was a nice touch
Went on a Saturday evening for the soft Launch and it was packed, but the wait was only about 40 minutes. It would be nice if there were some chairs or small café tables outside for people waiting.
Unfortunately, the food felt overhyped compared to what’s all over social media & the pictures on their website. A lot of it was undercooked, mushy, and lacked flavor, (see other low rating reviews to confirm this same point) and the crab was almost nonexistent. We were hoping for something closer to what Ichiban (when it was in Lone Tree) used to be.
On the plus side, service was great—drinks were refilled quickly, tables were kept clean, and the restaurant itself was very clean. The value is solid too at around $23 for dinner. Overall, great service and pricing, but the food quality was a letdown
⚠️ UPDATE: In response to owner.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review. We absolutely want your restaurant to succeed. We hope you take the points into consideration for enhancing your patrons experience and quality of food.
See you next time when improvements are made. ✨
The food is pretty standard for a Chinese buffet and has a lot of variety for everyone and kiddos. I would say it’s a lot fresher compared to other buffets, no wilty vegetables and not fishy seafood. Some crispy items got a little soggy, might be their proximity to the steamers. Didn’t realize they had soup until leaving, but hope to try next time! Highlights include yakitori chicken, baked seafood, salt and pepper crab, and rice noodles.
The sushi bar had a nice selection of shrimp, salmon, imitation crab, and other options. Decent flavor and prepared regularly in sight.
The Mongolian make-it-yourself section had very fresh ingredients and was very tasty. Only thing I’d recommend is making it easier to access the sauces/spices or make another sauce/spice area, only one person could really use them at a time and it was difficult to maneuver the ladle.
The fruits and desserts were pretty good, recommend the mango jell-o, strawberry squares (actually had a decent amount of cream!), and ice cream cups.
But the real star was the hand-held seafood section! The seafood was fresh, flavorful, and so much fun to eat with our hands. The Cajun-style seasoning was spot-on, and there was a great variety of shrimp, crab legs, mussels, and more. It was messy in the best way possible—totally worth it!
Great food, awesome vibe, and friendly service. Yogie is the best manager!Highly recommend if you’re looking for a satisfying and interactive meal. Will definitely be back soon!
The only change I would suggest is that at the Mongolian station they give numbers out to the customers because people were confused whose dish was whose. And the people make the food don’t speak English. I found it frustrating during the lunch time because there were a lot of people who got confused about which plate was theirs.
Otherwise the service was decent. Definitely recommend checking it out.
Plenty of options, sushi was fresh (no ocean flavor) although was a little bland. Fried dumplings was really good along with the Mongolian grill. Lots of options for everyone and the ice cream selection is one of the best I’ve seen for buffets.
Baked seafood had a lot of flavor and the Chicken and Broccoli was better than most buffets’.
If you’re a seafood lover, this place stands out. The seafood quality is noticeably high, and I was especially impressed by the large, shell‑off shrimp that were cleaned properly inside. Most buffets don’t take that extra step, so this detail really showed their commitment to quality.
I went during lunch and received a 10% senior discount, which made the meal even better. I sampled three soups—egg drop, hot and sour, and seafood soup—and all of them were flavorful and well prepared.
There’s also a generous selection for Mongolian BBQ and sushi, and everything I tried was fresh. With so many choices and such clean, new facilities, City Buffet is off to a strong start.
I’ll definitely be returning soon to try their dinner offerings.
The dining room has a couple of dining areas. One in the front and another section in the back. There are booths on the sides and regular tables and chairs in the center dining areas. The tables were kept clean and wiped down. The chairs and booths were covered in a leather like material and they looked nicely padded. The booth I sat in was comfortable and roomy enough to fit 4 adults comfortably. The decor is Chinese and nautical with a ship cabin style.
There is seafood , Chinese cuisine, sushi and a Mongolian buffet to choose from. For dessert , there is ice cream , brownies , sponge cake and layered cream cakes , sugared nuts to choose from. Jello and fruit too.
There are about 4 buffet stands , the Mongolian station and the sushi is located on the right counter of the Mongolian station.
The food was good. But the crawfish was plenty but out of season and tasted like it. The clams were my favorite. Plenty and kept stocked up. The food areas were kept clean and were continuously maintained and kept full. The raw food on the Mongolian buffet side looked fresh and well maintained. The sushi section had a variety and they looked like they were kept fresh and well maintained.
The bathroom is located to the left of the buffet. Both male and female’s bathrooms are located across the hall from each other with an open double sink area between them.
There is plenty of free parking shared with other businesses in the strip shop . The prices of the buffet varies by days and dining times.
Service was good. Drinks were kept topped. And empty dishes were kept cleared. It was too busy to take more pictures since I value people’s privacy unless they are staff. Sometimes I get one in the pictures. . Was told the owner is the same owner as the King Buffet.
