Ordered a Massaman Curry along with satay chicken skewers. The satay sauce was excellent.

Unfortunately, the Massaman Curry was a major letdown. It consisted of one full onion (in the photo), one potato and three small pieces of beef, drowned in sauce with barely any peanuts.

Overall, it felt extremely poor value for money. Disappointing to spend close to $60 on a meal that didn’t deliver.

One of my all-time favorite takeaway dinners!

Gong Thai has easily become my go-to spot when I crave something comforting, hot, and absolutely satisfying after a long day. I live nearby, so it’s dangerously convenient but in the best way possible.

I usually order their Hot Tom Yum Goong with Rice — and let me tell you, it never disappoints. For just $18, you get a generous portion of piping hot tom yum packed with juicy prawns, mushrooms, and fresh herbs, all swimming in a rich, tangy, and lil bit spicy broth. The flavors hit just the right balance of sour, spicy, and savory. It’s that kind of classic dish that warms your soul and clears your sinuses at the same time — in the best way .

They always serve it fresh and hot, and even though it’s takeaway, it feels like a proper, comforting meal at home. The rice is always perfectly cooked, and they package everything neatly so nothing spills.

Staff are friendly and efficient — I usually pop in and out quickly, and my food is ready within 10–15 minutes. The service is consistently reliable and smooth.

Honestly, I’ve tried other dishes on their menu too and they’re all solid, but nothing beats this classic combo for me. It’s simple, it’s nostalgic, and it always hits the spot.

Highly recommend Gong Thai for anyone in the area looking for authentic Thai flavors that are affordable, satisfying, and super convenient

A gem in the Gladstone Hotel. Great atmosphere, busy, loudish due to being so popular. Order at the kitchen area with friendly assistance and advice. Prompt delivery of very generous, delicious meals.
Red Duck Curry which didn’t skimp on the duck. Full flavoured duck & sauce, with a side of perfect rice.
Pad Thai with crispy pork belly. Chewy noodles with large tasty pork pieces.
Edit: second visit, equally wonderful.
Chicken Singapore Noodles & Tom Yum Goong, with four large prawns amongst the perfectly spiced soup.

Absolutely disgusting, ordered the crispy pork belly, what came out was big chunks of soft fat, sauce tasted like old fish.

Pad See Ew was plain, looked like dirty socks and hardly any chicken.

Chips came out with a mountain of salt, not palatable.

Shame because it’s a cool venue.

Finally tried this place and it wasn’t dissapointed at all! Food were awesome, just like what my personal preference in Thai food. We ordered Curry Puff & Chicken Skewer for entree. It was okay. We had Massaman Beef Curry, Chicken Pad See Ew, and Crispy Pork Belly stir fried with chilli basil sauce. The pork belly was the highlight of our lunch. Pad see ew also very nice. Price was a bit too dear for average Thai dishes, but we will come back for sure. Atmosphere is average pub style. The waiter and waitress that served us were very friendly and accomodating.
