Due to the continued revolving door of employment the food is inconsistent, over priced and limited to burgers and pizza.
Owner is constantly changing the hours you drive 10-30 minutes and the doors could be locked. .
This place is not all considerate to the community. Lance is taking donations for snow removal yet he did not even do that when it’s needed. Several ice houses had to be PUSHED OUT BY CUSTOMERS!!
Lance has shown is lack of respect to his crew and his only concern to be appearances AND the money!! So many appliances barely work but he has lots of extra stuff that brings nothing to the table. It’s difficult to show consistency and quality food when the equipment is left Broken!! The junk all over it looks like a salvage yard for restaurant equipment. Stay clear of the soda machine too As the ice dispenser has mold inbthe groves that nobody knows how to fix.. . But he was very strict about bathroom dust CLEANEST BATHROOMS AROUND. . Lol

Bar was closed before 10 pm on a Saturday. Also my wife and her sister were not serviced at the bar without having to move to a different spot twice. It would be nice if the bar was open until posted hours on the weekend when both campgrounds were full. The bar would do better if staff was more friendly and weren’t worried about closing early to get home.
My wife and her sister were at the bar. They know that is how it works. As a restaurant owner myself an “family emergency” is no reason to close early when employees were still in the bar. If you want to charge/ act like you are on a minnesota lake up your game. Also, your response of “there is another bar 10 minutes away if you’re that thirsty” shows you do not care about the people you serve. You only care about the money in your pocket.

We were greated by Pearl with a friendly smile and a huge hello. Had a great variety of adult beverages and a great little down home, very affordable menu. Had a totally awesome meal and was a very relaxing environment. We will most definitely be a return guest here. Thank You all for a great experience!!!

Walking in the door we were greeted with a big hello and friendly smile! We had the talapia special with fried rice tonight, it, by far, was the best meal I’ve eaten at a resort on Lake Ashtabula! They report was very busy and yet we had our delicious meal within 15 minutes of ordering! Only fifteen minutes from Valley City, it’s definitely worth the short drive out to the lake for a great meal, wonderful service and drinks.

We really enjoy camping here. The campsites are pretty big! They have a fireworks show around the 4th of July as well. Swimming is at the east crossing which is fine because they technically don’t allow alcohol on that side. The west side is where you can drink. The Hungry Pelican is new at this site (2022) so it’s just as awesome as the OG at Mel Reiman! But I would say more parking is needed at both because of the popularity.
