New management with prices shaved! Some new food choices and new tables. Always was good but now seems much better. They have the very best dirty chai I’ve ever had and this cinnamon roll is sinfully delicious . Oh and they open at 6am now which is also a help for me.
I whollyrecommend to anyone who enjoys quality coffee and bakery goods.

Gordy’s has that classic small mom-and-pop feel, which makes it warm and inviting. You can tell care goes into what they make, and the quality is good. It’s the kind of place you want to support because of its local, family-run vibe. Coffee was strong and pastries were delicious.
That said, the prices are on the higher side. It’s a nice treat once in a while, but a bit expensive for what you get. Worth trying if you appreciate supporting local businesses, just be prepared to pay a premium.

This place is under new ownership since the New Year and feels significantly improved. Service is considerably faster and the coffee/ coffee drinks taste better and are more consistent quality wise. The pastries also seem like the recipes have gotten a much needed refresher! Prices are equivalent to every other coffee shop in this area.

I want to like this place. Have given it 3 chances. The bakery items always seem stale like a day or 2 past freshness. Went for a latte today and the drink was about 90% milk. When I saw the cup filled almost to the top with milk I thought that can’t be right. Then the barista pour about an ounce off coffee into the cup. Tastes like milk with a coffee accent.

For our coffee date, I took my wife to Gordy’s Bakery and Coffeehouse in Encinitas. Our date was on New Year’s Day, so I called the Coffeehouse to ask when is closing. We arrived 50 minutes before closing. As usual, I ordered a house coffee. The wait staff said, “I am closing, and I don’t have coffee.” This was odd. It seemed too early to start closing. My wife’s coffee drink was okay. The Coffeehouse offers indoor and outdoor seating. The ambiance of the Coffeehouse is colorful with interesting posters. Though, I did not partake in any of the pastries, they looked yummy.

Truly a north county SD vibe. Got a new position up north and am now addicted to this bakery. Plonk, sausage roll, and double espresso to start the day one cannot go wrong.

Great coffee, wide variety of sweet and savory pastries and pleasant staff.
We came on a Friday for a quick breakfast and coffee on our way to santa Monica.
We had quiche and raspberries bar. Both were great.

I purchase 2 cookies at $6.00 each. They were cold and did not realize until I was home, they were like hockey pucks. There are rows of cookies in the display each covered with plastic wrap. I can guarantee they are days old as they tasted stale. Don’t waste your time on the cookies. Maybe the other products are fresher. Very, very disappointing. I will not return.

Super cute bakery in Encinitas. I’m surprised they have a lot of savory pastries, including meat pie, quiches, and savory empanadas. I had a bacon, cheese & egg empanada, it is so delicious! They heated up for me and I enjoyed this big empanada nice and warm. They also have a lot of sweet pastries! I’ll come back to try others, they all look amazing.

Awful almond croissants. No filling at all, stale, wrapped in plastic. I definitely got tricked. They sprinkled a few lousy shavings of almond on top of an old croissant. $7.50 each. The audacity.
