My friend and I stopped in for takeout after she raved about the food. I now will be doing the same! The staff was so fun and friendly, and the food is absolutely incredible! Some of the best I have had in GR lately, and so fun and different from what all the other restaurants are doing. The pork dumplings are an absolute must!

Awesome spot for great African fusion food. We ordered the skewers and shared dumplings.
They were amazing!
Cannot recommend highly enough.
I took off one star for atmosphere only because space is tight. It’s likely folks will want to consider taking out and eating at home. There are two cozy little tables.
Enjoy!

Food was wonderful and delicious! The chicken tacos and the fried shells were amazing. The Queso was very good as well. I also got the Blueberry Ginger Lemonade which was different but good! I will most definitely come back! This seemed to be the best part of Grand Rapids!

Wow. I’ve walked past this spot many times without knowing what was inside.
Last night I finally walked in and ordered some birria and chicken tacos with a side of rice and beans.
Yall. I don’t even like birria that much.
Chefs hit this out of the park. Amazing food here, friendly staff- patient because I had no idea what I wanted- and clearly a solid working team that enjoys what they’re doing in there.
I will never walk past your building again.
Great work, food, heart!

Highly recommend this little hidden gem. The staff was immediately welcoming and friendly, and helped me find what was gluten free on the menu. As a first timer, I was recommended the tacos— they’re AMAZING!!! So flavorful and well spiced. Even after the drive home they were hot and crispy. I’m excited to try more of the menu!

Me and my wife absolutely loved the food. The customer service was great and the energy is a positive vibe. We will return for sure. The egg rolls and tacos are the only two things I’ve tasted along with the curry coconut rice and bean bowl (side dish) but we’ll be back to explore more of the menu soon.

I don’t generally write reviews but this place is as good as it gets. Came here for lunch. TO-DIE-FOR Birria tacos, BEST tacos I’ve ever had, hands down! And I’m from Los Angeles, the Taco City. It is so good that I’m coming back tonight for dinner. This place is WORTH the hype! I can’t wait to try everything on the menu. Shoutout to Chef Shaw, working the front. Very friendly and down to earth guy. Fresh ingredients, cook to order. Great rewards program! Highly highly recommend this local small business!

Love their red pepper & cactus tacos! My boyfriend enjoys both the goat and beef tacos. He just recently tried the egg rolls and said they’re dank! We love coming and grabbing take out here. The staff are friendly and hard working. The food is delicious, unique, and prepared with love. The taste of the food is otherworldly and is a must try!

Mizizi has positively excellent food. It’s Swahili African / Mexican fusion. Quesadillas and burritos with African spice flare plus some other protein-holders available like Chipatis and ramen. We had the chicken quesadilla and the birria burrito plus a side of beans. All of it 5 stars no question, with the edge going to the quesadillas. Which come on, look at the pic on this review. Perfect.
It’s a pretty small place. There’s four stools and a somewhat rickety counter top table, plus napkins and plastic silverware. Not really meant to be the kind of place for sit-down service or eating in. But we did and even still we felt welcome. Street Chef Shaw is a real one. Friendly guy, great food.
It’s basically a food truck but in a brick and mortar location. There’s only a few options, but it’s really awesome food. It’s just more of a takeout place.
