I ordered this place many many times. One time I also noticed the “suspicious” fried tofu with black dots on them. I was so angry so I called the owner, they explained to me the crispy tofu soaked with 卤汁 sauce will make the tofu looks like it’s not fresh… I didn’t believe him at first then I poked the black dots and they were really small pockets of sauce…. I don’t think they deserve a 3 star!!! It’s actually really yummy and taste fresh… I often crave this place. Also today when I ordered, I noticed they changed their tofu type and added more bok choy. Thanks for improving and maintaining a good quality!

Must ring doorbell, but the doorbell for this one is missing . If you ring the doorbell for another location, the other eatery will yell at you

The rice in the Chaoshan-style radish and beef brisket rice was undercooked and difficult to swallow. The radish and beef brisket itself tasted alright, but I hope the restaurant can cook the rice properly.

It’s rare to find a bowl of stew in Irvine.
Oh, and the Longjiang braised pork knuckle rice is also quite good.

The food is delicious, no doubt about it. I’ve ordered Uber Eats twice from Lao Tang’s, and both times were disappointing. The first time, they underpaid for one meal, and the second time, they overcharged me. I don’t know if the second time was because the vendor accidentally re-printed the order and overcharged me, or if there was a problem with the Uber Eat server itself, but both were unpleasant experiences. I order takeout frequently, and other places have no problems, but they have so many problems.
