I am a food snob and the dish I got was seriously the best meal I’ve had all year! We went here with low expectations as some of the food in McCall is “meh” but we were so blown away by our dinner!!! We were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary (17 together!) and our server Matthew was really great! He made the night really special!

The sorbet brought tears to my eyes as it reminded me of the sorbet I used to eat at this little pizza place in France as a little girl! So yummy!

We were staying at the lodge and when we called the hostess to get a table she said we couldn’t get in… We wanted to eat there at like 5pm…. She said we wouldn’t be able to get a table until 830pm…We decided to walk in anyways and they ended up being able to get us in. There was a point where there were open tables! …So that part was a little lame but I won’t remove stats for it because I feel she just needs more training on phone etiquette and how restaurants are ran.. she was nice enough just was a little annoying that they weren’t going to get us in… but other than that the views were amazing, chairs comfy, service excellent, food excellent! Really impressed!!!!

The appetizer, soup and my wife’s entree were 6 out of 5 stars, giving this place a 5 for value, but there is a lot of work management should tailor to make this a 5 star experience for everyone that visits.
I called ahead and got the table closest to the lake with windows on two sides. The view was great, but a couple hiccups with an unnecessary follow up call and text to try to confirm, was total overkill. When I call to make a special reservation I don’t need multiple follow ups. I’m a professional and hold myself accountable to my appointments, I don’t need multiple attempts to ensure my visit.
Total value was great for my wife and I. $200 for a6course meal and a couple drinks each, pretty fair.
I’ve had lobster bisque in 7 western states and this was the most delicious lobster bisque in my opinion. The jammed pork bellie appetizer was amazing with a perfect sear on the fat and the oven bake to finish made the fat melt in your mouth like jelly. I will definitely be back just for these two dishes.
Desert was really good and entrees were both good. My rack of lamb was so delicious I finished it, but the crust on the sear was over and had a strong noticeable burnt taste. I provided the feedback to the kitchen. The atmosphere was beautiful and calm. My wife and I had a very peaceful experience, but I see an opportunity to make some improvements to truly make this a five star restaurant. Prices should remain the same, but management needs to hold a 95% perfect excellence standard rather than the current 85% excellence standard that was presented.
Service staff performed great, Bart was a pleasure and really took care of us.

Everything was fantastic: atmosphere, food (stuffed mushrooms and SRF American Wagyu flat iron steak), wine, service and ambience. The chefs at this property are excellent and this definitely showed during this experience!

Was told I had to try this place as my sister had one of the best steaks of her life here. Side note she has traveled a lot and eaten a lot of nice meals. My girl friend and I had an appetizer salad and two entrees. The majority was good however one of her scallops was a little undercooked. The real star was the bison ribeye that I ordered. It was the best steak my girlfriend has ever had and one of my top 10 steaks I have had. We happened to go in on Sunday and there was one server (Matt if I recall) and he did an excellent job with the five tables he was working as the only server. Thw support staff also did a wonderful job as well. Overall we were satisfied with the while experience.

The service here was the worst I’ve had in years, and for the price point, absolutely atrocious. Food was fine, but I’m vegetarian, and the options are fairly limited. I ended up with a side of mac n cheese and a side of asparagus. $50 for two sides, might I add.

Our reservation was for 9 pm (we arrived at 9:04 pm) and we weren’t seated until 9:30. Then, drinks took 20+ minutes to arrive, and we had to check up on them and were told “the bar was backed up.” No one came to take our order until 9:45 pm, despite being one of only 5 tables at the restaurant. It then took an additional hour for our food to arrive (10:45 pm). I genuinely cannot justify a $200 dinner for a meal that wasn’t served until an hour and 45 minutes after our reservation. I hear they have great steak. I obviously couldn’t try it to tell you, but my experience was definitely a bad one.

I ate here with a friend while staying at the Shore Lodge. We had a reservation on a Saturday night and were seated immediately. Our server was friendly and attentive. The bread service was tasty. I got a Caesar salad, and my friend had the lobster bisque, both were delicious. We split a larger steak as we didn’t want to have leftovers in our hotel room, our waiter had no problem with this and even had the kitchen split it onto 2 plates for us. The steak was great and cooked well. We skipped dessert but they do offer sorbet between courses as a palate cleanser which is always a nice touch. If I was ever back in McCall and wanted a steak, I would absolutely come here again.

Our server was great and I felt like everyone was on top of everything here. Very comfortable and it overlooks the lake. We got the French Onion Soup (not too frenchy and not too oniony. it was just right) , Grilled Peach Salad ( loved it. I ate the arugula, cheese, and prosciutto together and all the other stuff together), Bison Ribeye with garlic and truffle butter (this is really good and not gamee at all). The palette cleanser sorbet was excellent and so was the bread, butter, oil, and balsamic. I also added shrimp and asparagus separately which were both fresh and great quality but a little bland on the flavor side so that’s the only reason I did 4 stars on the food. Overall we loved the food and experience! Definitely will go back!

Poorly managed, the manager is rude, her and her team cannot turn tables to keep reservations on time and told us we could eat in the lobby if we didn’t want to wait an indefinite amount of time past our 9pm reservation, or she’d just cancel our reservation if we didn’t like those options. After spending thousands on our stay at the hotel, this is not the service our two families traveling together expected. Would avoid at all costs unless you want to wait forever and be talked down to and then handed a check for hundreds of dollars for that pleasure. We left and ate elsewhere – no way we’d be giving them a dollar of our money. The manager couldn’t manage her way out of a paper bag. They should fire her and I’m sure things would improve. Poor management starts at the top.

I reserved a table weeks in advance for my wife’s birthday and requested a table by the window in reservation request. We were up staying at the cabin for the weekend and looking forward to a romantic dinner by the lake. When we were seated in the middle of the restaurant, I informed the manager that we were supposed to have a window seat. The manager said unfortunately he made the decision to give up our table for a marketing team in which they were paying for their 3 day stay and dinner for them to write a good review. This was the absolute worst experience of customer service we have had and felt so low that our reservation paid dinner was not valued and we were not as important to the management team at The Narrow Steak House and the manager of the Shore Lodge John Wood. Low blow, so maybe this review will help with your marketing, add this review it’s not paid for! We left immediately and had dinner at Rupert’s where we were value and taken care of. Management at the Narrows Steak House and Shore Lodge should be fired, and would be if I was the owner.

My friends and I went there for dinner last night, and it was honestly very disappointing. All three of us ordered the short rib, and it was so tough that two of us couldn’t even eat it. We were really looking forward to the meal, so this was especially frustrating.

Our server did offer to replace our meals, which we appreciated, but by that point we had already been there for quite a while and didn’t have the time to wait for new dishes to be prepared. Instead, we were offered a complimentary dessert, but unfortunately that didn’t make up for the overall experience.
