Phenomenal stop to fill your Polish cravings! Terrific service, clean and bright environment are only outshined by the small, but delicious menu offerings. We enjoyed the Polish Platter and a 6pc Roast Pork Pierogies. Not an actual kids menu, but a large plain kielbasa on a soft bun and a pile of chips pleased our youngster. Free refills on drinks and many sweet options as well. You won’t be disappointed by stopping by. They hope to remain open year round. Check them out!

The food was delicious and served promptly. The owner is very nice and answered all our questions, and made sure we were taken care of. The pierogis are amazing, but the Hunter’s Stew stole the show! It was so incredibly good, I wish we lived closer so I could eat here more often.

A must-visit with vegan options! The mushroom and sauerkraut pierogi were a delightful surprise, and the pierogi in beet broth soup was unusual and delicious! The fruit pierogi were the perfect dessert, served without the butter and cream as a vegan dish but just as tasty with powdered sugar on top – we should have ordered more for the road! Definitely recommend!

Was really excited to come here, but I was let down. I will admit, I’m a tougher critic because I am Polish myself, so from store bought, to home cooked, I’ve tried it all. I was excited for my boyfriend to try some Polish food, and unfortunately I did not win him over too much.
We ordered the Polish plate and the barszcz with mushroom uszka.
Kiełbasa (Polish sausage) It honestly tasted like American store bought sausage. Nothing about it is Polish just what American manufacturers came up with as “Polish”
Bigos (hunters stew) This was alright, the flavor was super strong which was a little overpowering. Also had “kiełbasa” in it which was already a let down.
Gołąbki (stuffed cabbage) I couldn’t even finish this. I noticed in pictures this is handmade, and it’s full of 90% rice and 10% meat. There wasn’t much flavor. Homemade, these are mainly pork meat with less rice and have a rich flavor. I’m not even sure what meat was used as the meat was grainy, flavorless and unfortunately just disappointing.
Pierogi (Pierogis isn’t technically even Polish, the word “Pierogi” is already plural, just a little side note) They were decent, I don’t think these are handmade, but store bought and cooked in house. The potato and cheese pierogi were dry, rubbery, and bland.
Barszcz with mushroom (beet soup with “ears” aka mini pierogi) The barszcz itself was good but tasted super familiar, reminds me of the barszcz you get in powder in packets. I always liked it, so I enjoyed this but I don’t think it’s fresh. The uszka were really good!
All in all, employees were kind, but I think this place gives authentic Polish food a bad rep. Of course, it’s hard to come across genuine home cooked food in this area, but I wish people were able to taste the amazing flavors of real Polish food and not be given store bought/premade food that lacks the true authentic flavor. If you want to try something better, lots of places in Chicago offer lovely homemade Polish food that tastes like home 🙂

The pierogis were better than the ones I had in Krakow!! Everything on their menu was amazing and reasonably prices. They also have very friendly staff. Would recommend!!

Delicious! Friendly staff willing to explain menu choices. Got the platter and we shared it along with dessert blueberry and cherry pierogis. The cabbage roll and kielbasa were unexpected winners but pierogis still took first place. Spinach feta were yum! Mural on large wall is adorable!

What a great place for a home cooked Polish meal! My while family loved everything we tried from pierogis to crepes to kielbasa to cabbage rolls. There’s something for everyone and the staff is very friendly. We also liked trying the Polish beer. We will be back!

I highly recommend this location and the location in Ephraim. My wife is from a large Polish American family and this is her happy place. I’d definitely suggest the Polish sampler platter, and splitting with a friend. Get some additional pierogis to round out the meal depending on your hunger level. Two of us left very satisfied last night with a take out box for less than we spent at breakfast this morning and we each had a drink!

Food is fantastic. Love the 2nd location. We’ve been long time fans of the Ephraim store. Can’t go wrong with any of the options. Don’t forget to get some frozen to go.
