I really had high hopes for this place. I’ve been excited to eat here. Was supposed to be there tonight for the live music but opted to stay in and just try ordering it on DoorDash. I decided heavily between this establishment and another one but ultimately came to make the worst decision ever. Choosing Laneys. Let’s start with the positives…. The utensils were wrapped nicely and the fork & napkins were a good color. Now that’s the only positive thing I have to say. Shall I begin…I’m a salt lover….so for me to say something is too salty ….the cooks should be arrested. Idk if the salt accidentally spilled over all of the food but it was by far the saltiest food I’ve had in my life. On top of being salty the chicken must have went to a Baptist church today because it was baptized in the vegetable oil and rolling in the spirit because that chicken was anointed with high cholesterol and high blood pressure. I mean the grease was literally dripping as a took my one and only bite…. What a waste. Because that chicken sacrificed his life only to end up in my trash. Now for the sides I ordered the brussels sprouts and macaroni and they were both disgusting individually however, when I combine them together, they were edible.
And then… the fried pickles. Listen, I love a good fried pickle. I swear that pickle wasn’t fried, it was mummified in sodium. If you licked a Himalayan salt lamp and chased it with seawater, it would still be less salty than whatever that was.
Unfortunately I paid $35 for a four piece meal and two sides with all four pieces ending up in the trash. I tried to give it to my dog, but she ran away from it she must’ve smelled the high cholesterol and high blood pressure a mile away. I’m really sad because my weekend was crappy and this was the one thing I was looking forward to was being a big back and trying a new restaurant and unfortunately the restaurant didn’t want me to live another day to order again because if I would’ve eaten the entire meal I would’ve been gone. Honestly, I really think the establishment should be mindful because having food that salty is seriously dangerous and this is coming from a salt lover… like I carry salt in my purse, so I’m not exaggerating. If I ever return to this restaurant, the only thing I will be ordering are utensils.
Edit: I did try the biscuit. It was good.

Lane’s a gem! Delicious food, generous portions, and excellent service. The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy, perfect for both casual meals and special occasions.

Has potential but they’re not there yet. I wanted the chicken strips to be so much better, definitely lacked flavor. The mac n cheese was a little runny for my liking. Ordered 3 different cocktails and they all taste like koolaid. Where’s the alcohol?! The place is cute and the service was good. I’ll be back to try the deviled eggs or brunch.

Mediocre at best. Husband got the 1/2 chicken with no flavor and Mac n’ gritty Cheese and tasted like it was old or out of a bag. I got the Nashville Chicken Sandwich and it was mostly breading and had to flag down the server to get drinks refilled. Will not ever go back.

O ordered my food to go so I really didn’t get to enjoy the music or the atmosphere but while waiting for my food I did listen to some great music and the place is real welcoming. The food however was horrible!! My daughter chicken strips were not fried all the way and they were burnt. The chicken wings had a weird taste and were not seasoned. My chicken sandwich was a sloppy mess. The bun and the chicken was soggy and falling apart. The sauce of the baked beans was good but the beans were hard. I paid 50.00 for food that was so bad we couldn’t eat it.

We stopped in mid afternoon for a late lunch. My daughter and I found it very good.
The chicken sandwiches were a bit spicy but not too bad. The waiter called the kimchi sandwich very spicey, but it takes a lot of spice for me to call something hot. I liked the breading but it was heavy and I know some like a lighter batter.
The waiter was very nice and frequently refilled my drink. 🙂

Next time you are in the mood for fried chicken Laney’s is a top choice. I had the chicken and waffles and enjoyed it very much. The princess tried the yogurt parfait and also gave it two thumbs up. Parking in Westport can be challenging but we are here on a Sunday and did not have any problems finding street parking. The weather had turned cold overnight so we dined inside but when the weather warms up their outdoor deck looks very inviting and probably offers one of the best people watching opportunities in town! We enjoyed it and will return.

Checked out Laney’s in the KCMO Westport area for a quick lunch. I bet this place is hopping in the evening and on weekends. It was quite and clean during our lunch visit. Our food came out hot and delicious. I highly recommend the Laney chicken sandwich, the special sauce is yummy

The food is absolutely spectacular. Laney’s house made sauces and freshly baked biscuits are amazing. The chicken tenders are cooked to perfection and are the perfect size. Don’t get me started on the cider-glazed Brussels sprouts. And they locally source a TON of their products like their bread, chicken, & coffee just to name a few.
They have an awesome cocktail menu, with something for everyone. My favorites are the Polly’s Soda Pop cocktails with crushed ice.
The staff is so hospitable and friendly to every guest that walks in. They always greet you with a smile.
There’s always great music, no matter if it’s a playlist on weekdays or live music on the weekends.
And they have disco balls.

Went last night for the first time and it was amazing. The atmosphere was chill and the service was fast. The food was delicious and so was the peach cobbler. Not many options on the menu but the ones they had were perfect!
