Just walk inside the liquor store when park the car. The restaurant is literally in the liquor store. Walk straight when go inside the store.

It is exactly the kind of taquería I hope to stumble upon on a hungry afternoon: no-frills counter, the soundtrack of a sizzling plancha, and a plate that lands with genuine generosity. The photo says it all—a full spread of tacos crowned with onion and cilantro, a heap of sweet grilled onions, a blistered jalapeño ready to add heat on demand, and a handful of seasoned chips for crunch. On the side: an ice-cold pineapple agua fresca, bright and sunny, the perfect palate refresher between bites.

The tacos are built correctly: double-stacked corn tortillas warmed until pliant, lightly toasted so they hold the meat’s juices without tearing, then piled high. The carne asada carries that essential plancha char—tiny crisped edges giving way to juicy, well-seasoned bites. The lengua (pictured as the tender, cubed cut) is textbook: clean, silky, and rich without heaviness, the kind of preparation that converts anyone who claims they “don’t do lengua.”

And yes, that third cut you’re seeing is cabeza—and it’s excellent. Soft, beefy, and gently gelatinous in the best way, cabeza brings a deeper savor and luxurious mouthfeel that plays beautifully with raw onion and cilantro. A little squeeze of lime and a spoon of salsa roja turn it into an ultra-comforting, melt-in-your-mouth taco. If you like your proteins on the tender side with big beef flavor, this is your move.

Speaking of salsas, the house options run the spectrum from bright and tangy to deeper and smoky, so you can tailor each taco. A few drops of salsa verde wake up the asada; the spicier roja loves the richness of lengua and cabeza. Add a bite of the grilled jalapeño and you get that perfect lift of heat without drowning the meat. The grilled onions are more than garnish—they bring sweetness and texture, letting you build each bite like a tiny composed dish. Those chips, dusted with chili-lime seasoning, are a clever touch between tacos, a palate reset with crunch.

Portions are generous and the value is strong. This is a plate that looks big and eats bigger—plenty of meat, well-filled tortillas, and enough extras to make it feel like a mini feast. Nothing is skimpy or rushed. Each protein tastes freshly cooked to order, not scooped from a steam tray, and the tortillas arrive warm, not soggy. That attention to detail is what separates a great taco shop from an average one.

About that pineapple agua fresca: ice-cold, lightly pulpy, and just sweet enough to balance the savory meats. The citrus-pineapple snap cuts through char and spice like a charm, and it’s exactly what you want alongside a blistered jalapeño.

Service is quick, friendly, and efficient. Order at the counter, watch the crew work the grill with practiced rhythm, and your food appears moments later—hot, aromatic, and exactly as requested. The vibe is casual and welcoming; grab a stool or a table, hit a taco with salsa, and settle into that satisfying quiet that only happens when everyone is busy enjoying what’s in front of them.

Tacos El Guerito nails the fundamentals—proper tortillas, meats with real plancha character (including tender cabeza and silky lengua), lively salsas, and those small touches (grilled onions, jalapeño, seasoned chips) that make a taco plate feel complete. Honest food made with care and confidence. If you’re taco-hunting in Baldwin Park, this is a green-light stop—come hungry.

The food was good. The service was good and the place in located inside a liquor store. So you can get what you need soda, beer, wine, smokes. Cup ice and drinks. I like this store. I heard that Baldwin Park has some good tacos, so me and my family so there on our way home to try some tacos. They were good. The chicken is nice and soft, taste. It’s right off Merced Ave.

You wouldn’t guess from the outside, but there’s actually a restaurant inside the store. Let me tell you, this place is a hidden gem. I had some things to take care of at the Baldwin Park Kaiser that pretty much took up my entire day. Naturally, my wife and I were starving afterwards. We decided to look for something to eat in the area. When we’re in the mood for Mexican food, we tend to gravitate towards small, off-the-beaten-path places because the food is usually better. And this place definitely lived up to our expectations. We both ordered wet burritos – my wife got the regular and I went for the deluxe. They were loaded with beans, rice, sour cream, avocado, and our choice of meat. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the flavors were outstanding. I’ve noticed that some places tend to go overboard with the salt, which can sometimes ruin a meal. But they got it just right here. My wife and I agreed that the next time we visit Kaiser, we have to make a stop here too. I’m giving this place four stars, not because they did anything wrong, but because I reserve five-star reviews for truly exceptional service.

Omg the best Tacos spot ever in Baldwin Park. Their rice, beans, green salsa is bomb. I love how they give cucumbers with their tacos too. I ordered a big order on postmates tonight of asada, birria and potato tacos and I was not disappointed. Everything was so good. Will definitely buy again.

There the only taco restaurant to open past 10:00am, opening at 10:30am. There one of the very few taco restaurant in the city that does not have $1.00 Tacos anywhere on menu & they only take cash… Not Debit/Credit or PayPal(Debit) Accepted. Other than that I would say I’ve been coming for year’s, Increased Prices by 20% on all menu selections. I Remember 2 1/2 years Ago I could get a super combo burrito for $7.80+tax…. Now it’s 10.08+Tax=$11.00 Bucks!!!

If you want some good tacos with that hole in the wall feeling, well this is that place all the tacos what ever combo you want they are GREAT they have that in your house back yard Sunday taste. I guarantee you once you get started you won’t put them down they give King Taco a run for their money, just cause King Taco has the fame and clientele and like I said before this is a hole in the wall (not literally just a figure of speach)also I had to answer a question prior to doing this review, it was if it was ok to take kids in there you could but the place is inside a liquor store and I’m for the let’s teach the next generation all the good things in life and keep them out of liquor stores. Hope it help you.

I have been coming here for 11 years since they first opened up. It’s a hole in the wall but the food and service is amazing. They have the best al pastor meat I’ve ever tasted, freshly made tortilla chips and my favorite of all is their chipotle salsa. Me and my family always come here for something quick, delicious and cheap in price. I recommend this spot for anyone looking for some real Mexican tacos.
