Our anniversary tradition is to dress up in our wedding outfits and go out for a fun night — after all, the dress is too nice to only wear once! This year we celebrated at Post 1917 in Reading, and it was perfect.
We started with cocktails — an “Executive Martini” for Eddie and an “Alkali Sky” for me — and a classic shrimp cocktail to share. For entrées, Eddie enjoyed the lamb chops with a lobster add-on, while I had the filet mignon. The sides of crispy Brussels sprouts and golden tater tots were the ideal complements. We paired everything with a bottle of Justin Isosceles, which was a fantastic match for both of our meals and made the evening feel extra special. Special shout out to Roberto for the wine suggestion and Allie for her attentive (but not hovering service).

As soon as we walked in there was an attitude. 3 of us sat at the bar and they wanted to make sure right away that we were there for drinks and dinner. We were so that was fine but again there was some attitude. Then the bar waiter touted the menu and told us we had to order all our food at one time. Well OK. We did and usually do, but thought that was an unnecessary request. While sitting at the bar the wait staff were complaining of another customer that ordered a wedge salad for her meal. They went on about that for a while. Me and my husband’s drinks were empty. I only have one drink so there was an attitude and comment about that. 2 out of 3 of our forks were bent. When we told them about that the comment (again with attitude like it was our fault) was that we won the lottery. No your high priced “steak house” has cheap silverware. My knife was also dirty. The meal came and my chopped salad looked and tasted like garbage. When I told the bar manager this, he corrected me and told me that they make their salads fresh. The food overall was mediocre. The atmosphere and vibe was horrendous.

I don’t do reviews…I just don’t. However, I recently came to Post 1917 with a buddy to visit Chef Jason – an old friend – and see what he was up to. Had heard he opened a few really hot steak joints and was eager to check it out and catch up. Where to begin….
Top Notch in EVERY way doesn’t do justice to this place. From the greeting at the door, to the perfect spot at the bar, to the personal escort from Chef Jason himself, this place has it dialed in. Not only was the food perfect, but the ambiance, the surrounding crowd of folks there (friendly as hell!) and the attentiveness from the entire staff was 2nd to none. Chef Jason is a hands on guy – checking in with guests constantly to ensure the food and experience are measuring up. I’ve been to 100’s or restaurants over the last couple decades and can hardly say any of them came near checking all the boxes the way Post 1917 does. Best part? No reservation. A family run operation – Post 1917 is the REAL deal. Jason – Thanks goes out to you and the entire staff again for making it a memorable awesome time! Hope to see you again soon!

We were looking forward to having a delicious dinner at Post in reading, but unfortunately things went downhill quickly. I can say that having ordered the Tenderloin I would never expect to be served an End Cut. We complained to the Bar tender but he didn’t seem to care for our comment. So what I think the owner of this establishment should know is that a High End Steak House never ever serves an End Cut.

Post is doing everything right.

The entire staff was warm, attentive, and professional, and the restaurant was spotless—including the bathrooms, which were clearly well cared for all night. Fresh flowers and thoughtful details are everywhere. You can really tell this is a place that takes pride in what they do, and everything runs the way it should, consistently.

The ambience is perfect: comfortable yet luxurious at the same time.

The food was outstanding. Apps came out quickly and hot. The filets were cooked perfectly. The tots were unreal—fluffy on the inside with the perfect crispy crunch on the outside, easily some of the best I’ve ever had (get these, don’t question it). The heritage chicken tasted like the best version of a home-cooked meal—comforting and beautifully executed.

The wine list was thoughtful and spot on.

Hands down one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a long time—genuinely excellent. Will absolutely be back. Finally, a place that knows exactly what it’s doing.

Such an incredible experience! The restaurant in beautiful, everywhere you look you can see how much thought went into it. The food and drink were unbelievable. There were four of us in our party and we started with some drinks at the bar. The bar tenders were extremely attentive and the drinks were delicious. We then moved to our table for dinner and the food was unbelievable. We got steak, pasta, multiple side dishes, and desserts and they all were delicious. Highly highly recommend. Cannot wait to go back!

2nd time and just as good as the first time.
Atmosphere is so upbeat and happening.
The food…suggestions
NY strip…so tender and perfectly cooked. Tater tots…..amazing (coming from someone who doesn’t love potatoes) Calamari perfectly battered and just the right amount of kick.
If an old fashioned is calling your name off their great drink menu….get it! Kudos to the bartender….SPOT ON!
And wrap up your meal with the tiramisu…
Amazing and huge…very shareable.
And huge shout out to our waitress Abby….best of the best with great energy, and a great knowledge of her menu
I give Post an 11 out of 10

I was there on Tuesday night . I was on a 2nd date . The hostess was very complementary. I was seated immediately from the bar they brought our drinks to our table when it was very loud in the dining room. The weight staff was so courteous, knowing I was on a date they moved us to a quiet table. The chef came and visited us, gave us a recipe for carrots. ( the best carrots I ever had) It was just the best time now this restaurant is awesome. I highly recommend it to anyone. !!!!

Went there for an anniversary dinner and was impressed. Beautiful interior, great ambiance. Steaks were wet-aged and delicious. We had the lamb lollipops and bacon as apps, and they were wonderful. Cocktails were inventive and yummy. The whole menu is celiac friendly with a delcious GF tiramisu for dessert!! Our server Sebastian was wonderful. The only (very nitpicky) suggestion for improvement is to do a large ice cube for the old fashioned instead of normal cubes! Definitely recommend Post 1917 for a delicious and impressive dinner spot!
