Definitely worth the splurge for dim sum!

I was sad to see that the China Pearl was closed, so we went hunting for another dim sum spot in Quincy. This is probably one of the best places to go to!

Very open and spacious, with lots of hustle and bustle about. Plenty of free parking in the plaza area. When you go in, you take a number and wait to be seated. You’ll notice that it is VERY loud in here, and everyone/everything compensates for the noise level, which just makes things louder.

You can be seated with a small table or a shared table with other patrons.

Once seated, you pick out all of your choices (fantastically labeled with pictures and English on the menu) by circling on a menu with quantity, and everything comes out in batches as they become ready.

You will be served by anyone and everyone; you don’t have a dedicated waiter/waitress. It’s actually kind of fascinating to see how people just show up, serve your food, and then disappear to keep the internal flow of food and service going. There’s even a robot that roams from the kitchen to the front for take-out services. There’s no awkward small talk, just straightforward and business-like. Don’t take it the wrong way; it’s just the culture here and it works. (However, pay attention to how they bring your food and cross it off of the receipt as they go… because with the number of patrons in the restaurant, we learned the hard way that it is easy to have requested items forgotten. They forgot to get us a few food items and a drink, but not a huge deal for us though.)

The food is great for the most part. Again, photos for everything, so you can see what you are ordering. One thing I will caution is NOT to expect much from the “cute” dishes… B4 (pig) was kind of tasteless, and F15 (swan) has a typical store-bought durian flavor. However:

– S1: comes with the A1; very juicy with a hint (and I mean a HINT) of black truffle aftertaste
– S2: comes with the A1; a bit of a drier dumpling that looks nice
– C1: very flavorful and “fun” to eat
– C4: very yummy with a spicy green mustard sauce
– C6: surprisingly a cold dish… but still good
– C10: was nice to contrast with C6 and has been one of my childhood favorites
– B7: comes with the A1; surprisingly one of the best things that comes on the A1
– F14: comes with the A1; basically just a crispy meat dumpling, so not bad
– D5: comes with the A1; basically just a mango rice pudding, but it was still nice
– K1: came in a bit lukewarm but still good

Despite some choices not being as great as they could be, the food was overall still very good.

20260215 Update: More mini-food notes…

– A2: the abalone was kind of chewy and doesn’t have the Sichuan flavors infused as much as I would have wanted, but the cucumbers were on point
– A5: surprisingly nice and crispy with cream filling
– A13: broth itself is not bad, but the ingredients are pretty off-putting (black chicken feet, ginseng, abalone, etc.)
– S12: very juicy!
– F1: not as “fried” as we thought, but was still nice with chives
– F8: not bad
– G5: very clear and sweet; a surprisingly-nice dessert

A lot of the noodle dishes were surprisingly bland.

Awesome and the best place on the South Shore for dimsum. Clean, well lit, spacious and beautifully decorated. Plenty of free parking with their own parking lot as well as street parking. A big plus than trying to find parking in Chinatown and paying for it. They give you a checklist along with a menu with descriptions and photos of the dishes. Great service, attentive, courteous, polite, friendly and professional. Every dish is served quickly, hot and fresh. All prepared perfectly and delicious. Highly recommend. Definitely our go-to anytime for dimsum.

Good dim sum place. A long waiting lane on Christmas Day, but waiting time for 2 ppl is shorter than I expected. A large parking place next to it. Pretty good price ($45 per person with tips in and a lot of leftovers).

I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. Despite it being 30 F outside, we were seated right by the entrance door where a freezing draft hit our faces every 5 minutes . Even though there were plenty of empty tables visible throughout the restaurant, the staff flat-out lied to us, claiming it was the “only” spot available.

We asked the staff six different times to keep the door closed or move us. They agreed verbally but continued to leave the door open as they walked in and out and transporting stuff around, completely ignoring our comfort. To make matters worse, the food arrived cold and was very mediocre.

The service was hostile; the staff were literally throwing dishes onto the tables and rolled their eyes when we asked for a seat change. They have zero patience and no respect for their customers. Save your money and go somewhere else where they actually care about the dining experience

Parking can be a challenge. It is located next door to a popular Chinese grocery store. Got stated quickly. Service was great especially for a party of eight. Food was incredible. I think I tried everything on the mens. It is loud. Hard to carry on a conversation across a big table. But once the food came out, everyone stopped eating and started enjoying. Definitely coming back next time in town.

Dim sum is good but not great. Service is absolutely awful. The waitress tried to pull a chair from the other occupied table for us, but she didn’t say anything to the customers at that table but directly pulled the chair away, even pushing the chair of another customer. When they served our table, they also looked either emotionless or rather rude.
I saw one waiter cleaning a big table by pouring the left over tea from a previous customer’s cup to the table and use a mop to wipe it off. No sanitizer spray. It’s disgusting…
When I got the check to the front desk to pay, the restaurant owner lady also spoke to me with a very impatient tone. The entire dining experience was very disappointing except the food was okay.

Ming’s have 2 locations. This one is bigger and offers more variety of live seafood. Everything is on good. My daughter is connoisseur of fried mochi 鹹水角 and their pear shape ones does refine this item. The lychee shrimp balls look like lychee, do not taste like it. They have achieved a feast for the senses with this one. The calamari was crispy and flavorful. And the chao zhou dumplings 潮州粉粿 were authentic. Everything was good. Come. You won’t be disappointed in the food. Sure, service is efficient as in they are not gonna take the time to teach you what is what. So, be adventurous.

Food was decent but not fresh as I remembered few years back when it didn’t open that long yet, service is also great and people are nice, we went there later in the evening so the food served really quickly and nice size portion as well.

Food was great. The dumplings were delicious with large pieces of shrimp in the filling. I HIGHLY recommend the stir fried noodles, they are crunchy and tasty. The service was good with the food arriving within five or so minutes. The only thing with the service is that they sometimes forget your order and you end up having to wait extra time for your food. The atmosphere was amazing with good music and the fish tank kept the kids busy. Just so you know the fish in the fish tank are depressed and just lay on the floor of the tank lying there.
