I am so happy that I stumbled upon Turquoise! The food is amazing and the service is even better. The establishment is owned and operated by a lovely family. We felt very welcome as soon as we arrived.
I would recommend the gyro, baklava, and pide (if they have it). Everything we had was homemade and wonderful tasting.
They also have Turkish delights and other packaged sweets that were great to have later.
We will be back again!

Stopped by for lunch and some dessert today, and oh my, was it delicious!! We split an Ultimate Combo, which includes gyro meat, rice, stuffed peppers and a salad; it was wonderful! There was no sharing dessert though, that my sweet baklava is all mine! An authentic place where the owners take pride if what they make, we’ll definitely be going back.

Good place for Turkish food. Items are daily fresh made, a bit expensive. The owner is a friendly and hospitable person.
Loved their Dubai chocolate (pista) sundae.
Veg combo (w pita) was around $16, and the sundae was around $12

TLTR: I came in today with my husband for the first time, February 14, 2026, for a late brunch, it wasn’t busy when we came in. I have been searching for a long time for truly delicious, and amazing Mediterranean food. And I’m so glad this place exists. The place used to be an old ice cream shop; they have a couple of tables and chairs inside for those who prefer to dine in. If the weather is nice and warm, you can also sit outside. Anyway, we came in hungry and we didn’t know what to expect. It’s not the kind of place for fine dining or a fast-food restaurant, it’s more of a really nice and cozy place to eat similar to a home-cooked meal made from scratch. The kind of food that people took their time, effort, and put a lot of thought into making a dish. You may think, it looks simple, what could be so special about this place.. the experience we had is beyond the price we paid for our food. The gyro is a mixture of beef and lamb, ( I personally do not like to eat lamb because it taste pungent and the flavor is overpowering.) however, the owner gave a very small and thin slice for me to try, I was prepared to order chicken kebab if I didn’t like the gyro with lamb, but I was completely amazed how I did not even detect a smidgen of overpowering lamb. The tzatziki is incredible, it’s light and refreshing. It goes so well with the meat. He made the yogurt from scratch to make the tzatziki, and the hummus is also incredible also made from scratch. I’m not a big fan of hummus, I’ve had hummus in the past, even the ones made from scratch at a 5-star hotel (I know this, because I’ve worked for them in the past) but this hummus in particular tasted really good. Different than the one I had at the restaurant I used to work for, which was also good. The ones bought from a jar, tub, or can that’s already made will have a preservative, and that will change the whole flavor of hummus compared to those that are made fresh from scratch. The baklava is the bomb, you can taste the pistachios really well. Truly delicious dessert, really good with the tea that we had. And I also like the Turkish delight, (I like sweets, but not the kind that you get diabetic with one bite) it tastes sweet, mellow, and fruity but with a light flavor. You can have it with the Turkish tea without sugar as well, a perfect confectionery. We tried the Legendary Uludağ Gazoz, which is a mixed fruit-flavored soda, it’s also a good drink. We will definitely be coming back to buy and try their snack selections and we highly recommend this place to try, and hopefully, like us, you will decide to go back again to have more good food locally.

If you’re in Elmira, NY, and craving authentic Mediterranean flavors, you need to check out Turquoise Mediterranean Food & Sweets, a gem of a family-owned establishment! I stopped by for dinner and picked up their gyro plate, which was absolutely delicious. The portion size was generous (perfect for a hearty appetite), and the flavors were spot-on—perfectly seasoned meat, fresh veggies, creamy tzatziki, and a side of hummus that was rich and smooth.
They also have a cute grocery section stocked with Mediterranean specialties, and an ice cream counter with tempting treats like kunefe and halva sundaes. I was excited to try their freshly made baklava, but unfortunately, I got there too late—it must be popular for a reason!
This place feels warm, welcoming, and full of homemade love. I can’t wait to go back and explore more of their menu (especially the baklava next time)! If you’re in the area, make sure to support this wonderful spot.
Plan ahead for their desserts—they sell out fast!
Highly recommend the gyro plate!

After 40 years with my wife I finally found awesome “gyros” these are common in NYC but not in smalltowns she was so excited to see for herself if they lived upped to my hype from my city years, these in fact did my wife loved it.
The ice cream parlor was not what I expected or was accustomed to but hey the owners needed a niche for off season, I think it was a fantastic idea, wife and I had been looking at Newark for options when this appeared in convenient driving distance.
I had mine loaded with Romain lettuce, mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes, onions it was simply fantastic, very large helping of meat, awesomeness.
I suggest anyone looking for something new to the area to try this place.
