This contemporary sushi bar has great sushi, but also offers satisfactory dishes from the kitchen. My wife had the maki rolls which she said were excellent. I had the beef terriyaki. It was served with the terriyaki sauce on the side. I prefer the beef to be smothered in the sauce as it helps to tenderize the meat. It also makes a more inviting presentation. The steak was also a bit fatty on some of the pieces. I had started with the shrimp tempura appetizer. This was light, crunchy and delicious. It was also a large enough portion which was perfect for sharing. My son had the fried rice which was also a generous portion and was tasty. The service was a bit spotty. Although very friendly and hard working, our server did not have a full grasp of the menu. On one occasion, my son had to remind our server to bring the miso soup which came with the fried rice. On another occasion, my white rice suddenly appeared with my terriyaki when I was almost done. If you want excellent sushi, and decent items off of the kitchen menu, then Takumi can be a wise choice.

Got delivery from here and these were some really nice rolls. The Hurts roll was nice being a bit of shrimp tempura deluxe roll. Got the hot mama roll which was a lot like a yummy roll. Definite favorite was the Takumi roll. Very nice flavors. I haven’t had anything like it. Truffle with tuna avocado and some other stuff. Absolutely delicious. Everything was presented nicely and would love to visit sometime to experience the atmosphere and maybe some of their other options.

I was very, very suspicious about the five star reviews and I just assumed there was some mischief going on, there had to be some sort of, leave a five star review for a free mochi ice cream, or something. I have to report there were no covert deals offered. The food was just good quality at a reasonable price, and the service was very friendly. My waitress was named Linda and she was a sweetheart and made the experience great. I’m not sure I would call it tradition Japanese food, but good modern takes. The golden ramen was impressively good.

Came here tonight with my girlfriend. Service was impeccable. This is our new favorite ramen spot, even better than places we’ve had in DC. So far we’ve tried takumi ramen, kimchi beef, and golden. Takumi and kimchi beef are our favorites, but they’re all exceptional. Cheesecake also slapped.

I am glad to find this sushi place near our neighborhood. It was lucky to have lunch menus (11 to 3pm M-F) at special prices today. For lunch combo menus, you can pick either soup/or salad + nigiri/or sashimi/or chirashi ($5+) don and one rolls, which allowed us to have our favorite choices. 5pcs Nigiris in the combo are well-crafted, carefully selected (not always salmon and tuna), and super-tasty. Side-dishes are a bit disappointing but not bad for the price. Chirashi don in the lunch combo and tonkasu ramen are ok (but above the average) as you can find at Akira/Jinya. Overall I would put this place to the best sushi restaurant in MD considering the price.

Everything was perfect, the meat / fish were fresh and delicious, the preparation, presentation, and most importantly, the taste was mind blowing. All the sushis, salads and the wagyu fried rice tasted different and delicious giving a burst of flavors in your mouth. Definitely repeat, highly recommended.

This will be my go-to sushi spot from now on! We are so delighted that this has opened up nearby–particularly given the lovely staff that we encountered working here. Everyone was so friendly and excited to tell us about their food (as they should be!). The young man who waited on us was very sweet and attentive, and our food came out almost immediately! The Takumi house special roll was especially delicious, shown in the foreground of the photo. But everything we ordered was spectacular and we can’t wait to come back!

Even the “ordinary” pieces like salmon and tuna were incredibly fresh, torched to perfection and have that melt-in-your-mouth quality.
The menu offers a wide enough variety that works for both a regular day as well as a more elevated Japanese cuisine experience.
Highly impressed with the seamless service by the kind, attentive staff even during soft opening.
Worth every bit and penny!!
