My husband and I went there the other night thinking this place was going to be fantastic. I went there with some girlfriends a couple of years ago and it was great. This time not so much. They only had one waitress for the whole section and not only was she the waitress but the bartender too for the whole restaurant! McKenna was awesome. She tried her best to keep checking on us but more like a past by . She was too busy and we had to flag her down when we needed something. Even to order. I had a blueberry mule which was great but the food was cold. We had the cajin pasta with shrimp and the steak frit. The food would have been amazing if they didnt serve it cold. Cold fries are gross. The atmosphere is really nice and scenic. They just need hot food. And more servers.

Love the food, but especially Makenna’s dirty martini. Not just the best in Richmond Hill but all of Bryan county. Not only is her Martini the best, she’s always friendly and welcoming. Excellent service.

I recently visited Grit + Grain for a mid-week dinner, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. We kicked things off with the bread basket and crispy pork belly—both were deliciously southern, with the pork belly being perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

For our main courses, we had a diverse spread: the Grit + Grain House Burger with truffle fries, Cajun chicken pasta, and Ilene’s meatloaf. Each dish was bursting with flavor, but the burger stood out as our favorite—juicy, well-seasoned, and complemented perfectly by the rich truffle fries. The Cajun chicken pasta had a great balance of spice, and the meatloaf was comforting and satisfying.

Though we had no room for dessert, we couldn’t resist trying the drinks. The peach margarita was refreshing, but the real standout was the apple butter mule—it was absolutely perfect, with the apple butter giving it a uniquely smooth and flavorful twist.

Overall, Grit + Grain delivered an outstanding dining experience with bold flavors and a warm, welcoming vibe. Highly recommend!

Worth a stop! Old bar atmosphere. However the food is modern classic. Short rib , braised carrots and hand cut fries were all perfect . Beef was a nice portion , tender , perfectly seasoned with a nice reduction. Classic old fashioned was a bit small but perfect. Husband had the chicken fried chicken with whipped potato. Both were delicious and chicken had a perfect crispy crunch.

Wonderful experience for a small family run restaurant. Formal but not too formal. Delicious food choices and food came o it wonderfully done. Well seasoned, except the mashed potatoes- those could’ve passed as an instant potatoes if I didn’t have more faith that they wouldn’t do that.

Found Gem! We were coming back from Florida and found this amazing restaurant. The staff was friendly and on point. The food was excellent. Best grits this side of Charleston! The pork chop was the best we’ve had and the chicken fried chicken was great. And you HAVE to start with the tomato stack. We will find a reason to drive the 4 hrs to come back.

Amazing food. Blown away by the grit sampler, fried green tomatoes, short rib dinner. Oh and the banana pudding cheesecake was outstanding. The service was just as good as the food. Our waitress was on it. Anyone giving this place lower than 5 stars must have ulterior motives. At the time we were here it was 4.4 stars on Google. What!? Place is borderline Michelin Star. Do not pass up.

Thinking about trying out Grit + Grain? Go!
Go experience it for yourself. The food was incredible. The staff was attentive and very friendly. The hiccup we had with our meal was taken care of instantly! The atmosphere was fantastic. They are only open from 5-8:30pm which can be difficult for dining since it is first come first serve, but so worth it!
We will definitely be going back in the near future.

Excellent service and great food with good company. We immediately got greeted at the door. We came in a little after 8 and didn’t realize they closed at 9 so we hurried and ordered. The drinks were exquisite. Made with all the right ratios. The food was absolutely amazing. I got the short ribs over whipped potatoes and veggies and my husband got the pork chops. Our server was Mike he did an awesome job with great recommendations. This place did not disappoint. We will be back.
